@dhr194@mtaibbi We don't know that she told him no, because SHE deleted all texts between them. She could be lying.
He's a piece of shit, no doubt, but I don't find the existing evidence compelling enough to call him a rapist.
@SlimSats@bar_doors If you ever need help with those crushing student loans, I'm willing to let you rent a room in my "hovel". Below market rate. My wife and I have plenty of room to spare.
When you're replaced by chat bots, what's your backup? Arbys?
@SlimSats 10% of accusations are false. That's not nothing.
And in a case where the woman is an obese booty call, I think the odds are increased. Very convenient the text messages are gone.
If I were raped, I know I'd keep every bit of correspondence.
@SlimSats@bar_doors And for the record, I'm not a Platner fan. But this woman is clearly lying.
She's obese. Not attractive. Relationship seemed to be based on being a booty call. That's enough to make any woman angry. In this case, she fabricated a story.
@SlimSats@bar_doors My point was fantastic actually. But hey we're all impressed. You graduated last in law school and managed to pass the bar. Sorry your job's going to be replaced by AI in a couple years but at least you made it, right?
@SlimSats I agree, but I do think it's very easy to cast doubt on this accuser, as my hypothetical shows, it's very easy to lie. And it wouldn't be the first time someone's lied about being sexually assaulted. Especially if you're upset about being nothing more than a booty call.
@dhr194@mtaibbi But that doesn't mean it wasn't a lie. The vibe that I get from their relationship is she was a booty call. That kind of thing can make women angry. It's not unheard of, nor is it rare. 10% of allegations are false.
@SlimSats Hi lawyer. Let's say you and I dated. It ended terribly. I'm angry. I tell someone immediately after you sexually assaulted me. Couple years later, you run for office. Does it mean I was telling the truth? Should people believe me? I said something before you ran for office.
@RoundsR Let's say you and I dated and the relationship ended terribly. Immediately after I tell someone that you sexually assaulted me. Couple years later, you decide to run for office. Does it mean I was telling the truth? I did tell someone before you ran for office.
It's crazy how many people in the media do not understand this.
Everyone keeps saying the same thing over. "Credible allegation that's corroborated by multiple people"
It's made me realize just how stupid people are.
@BlueKitten1224@mtaibbi Let's say you and I dated in the past and it ended terribly. Immediately after I tell people that you raped me. And then in a couple years you run for office. Does that mean I was telling the truth? After all I did tell people before you ran for office.
Contemporaneous texts in which an accuser tells the same story to others is not “corroborating” evidence. It has value, but a person can’t corroborate her own story.
@actingliketommy@GenXGirl1994 "A rapist"
Prove it.
We have due process in this country. He hasn't been convicted. The available evidence is not compelling. Especially with deleted messages.
You know who else doesn't believe in due process? Fascists. Didn't think you were one.
