Social media is usually a place to post your wins… to highlight the good things happening in life. But today, I want to share a moment of vulnerability and humility - my first-ever business, Knight Society, has officially shut down today.
It’s easy to view this as a “failure,” but I see it as the end of one chapter and the start of another. At 23, fresh out of Rutgers, I set out to create an NIL collective built on community and fan experiences that would last a lifetime while benefiting Rutgers student-athletes. Over three years, we:
•Partnered with brands like Jersey Mike’s, Prudential, and Garnier
•Raised well over seven figures for Rutgers athletes in NIL deals
•Learned, hustled, and built something from nothing
And now, this chapter closes.
I’ll never forget the sleepless nights, early mornings, random meetings, and countless hours poured into trying to make something special. And I’ll never forget the people — Eric, John, Doug, Jason, Ron, Diane, and so many others — whose passion for Rutgers athletics kept us going. Rutgers is special because of people like them, and it’s why I’ll always encourage Rutgers athletes to finish their careers here. The network, support system, and family are priceless.
Knight Society may be over, but my support for Rutgers NIL isn’t.
I’m now focused on building my training business, GB Go Beyond and the Geo Baker Go Beyond Foundation. Last year, we worked with 300+ kids across New Brunswick, Woodbridge, and Manville, offering:
•Basketball training
•Nutrition & financial literacy education
•Goal planning, recruiting advice, and mentorship
This year, our goal is to raise funds for basketball-focused mentoring sessions — and we want Rutgers student-athletes involved as counselors and mentors. Reach out if you’d like to partner, donate, or get involved, you would not only be supporting the community — you’d also be helping us create NIL opportunities for Rutgers athletes and keeping our homegrown talent right where they belong.
“Failures” are just teachable moments.
I’ve never felt more confident, more motivated, and more grateful.
Take risks. Build. Create. Good always comes from it.
Here’s to the next chapter. And as always…
Go RU ❤️🖤
“It’s something that means a lot to not just myself by my co-founder Bryce [Council],” #Magic guard Cole Anthony said about his 50 Ways Foundation. “We care a lot about kids, about the community. So, for us, we wanted to find a way to give back in Orlando…”
