We’ve just signed the New Zealand-India Free Trade Agreement. This means more jobs on farms and orchards, more money coming into local communities, and more opportunities for Kiwis to get ahead.
Addressed the India-New Zealand Business Forum along with my friend Mr. @ToddMcClayMP, Minister for Trade & Investment, New Zealand.
The strong participation and ideas shared by business leaders from both sides highlighted the vast potential for deeper trade, investment, and innovation-led collaboration among our nations.
Highlighted how India's vast market, skilled talent, digital capabilities, and manufacturing strengths complement New Zealand's expertise in agri-tech, clean energy, and fintech.
Look forward to unlocking the full potential of the #IndiaNZFTA to create new opportunities for businesses in both countries, strengthen value chains, and further deepen our economic partnership. 🇮🇳🇳🇿

@abcapital Not sure, why these messages keep coming to me inspite of raising the issue. Will it require any legal intervention? Let me know. Ombudsman?
Honoured to be part of the Indian business delegation led by hon shri @PiyushGoyal during his visit to New Zealand.
A milestone as IND and NZ, two vibrant democracies with shared values, move closer to a historic FTA unlocking new frontiers in trade, technology, and innovation.

Next-Generation GST reforms mark a structural shift for India’s economy. Eliminating GST on health & life insurance is not just tax relief, it’s an investment in financial security, long term growth, and #EaseOfDoingBusiness.
GST Council Meet Updates: "Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi announced the Next-Generation GST Reforms in his Independence Day address from the ramparts of Red Fort. Working on the same principle, the GST Council has approved significant reforms today. These reforms have a multi-sectoral and multi-thematic focus, aimed at ensuring ease of living for all citizens and ease of doing business for all," posts @nsitharamanoffc.

@anandmahindra Just to put right in context, Trump’s new 50% tariff on Indian goods starts Aug 27 (20 days away). But these tariffs are likely just leverage. Both sides are still negotiating. Expect changes as talks continue. Tariffs are rarely the final word in global trade.
The U.S. has decided to put tariffs on some Indian goods—about 25%. That may sound big, but it’s not unusual. India also puts high tariffs: 150% on luxury goods and 70% on electric cars like Tesla.
So, if India can protect its market, why can’t the U.S. do the same? It’s about balancing trade. Right now, India sells $40 billion more to the U.S. than it buys. The U.S. wants to fix that—by either having India buy more from them or face some limits.
India always talks about “red lines” in trade, things it won’t compromise on. But what about the “green lines”—what is India offering in return? That’s less clear.
In the end, India has two choices: act like a strong, global economy and deal with small tariffs, or play the victim. These tariffs are a small price if the real debate is about opening up the economy in the future.
