In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busts a cross-border illegal arms and drug smuggling module, apprehends two accused, and recovers 2.225 kg heroin, 6 sophisticated pistols, and 12 live cartridges.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused were in contact with cross-border smugglers and were allegedly receiving consignments of heroin for further distribution to criminal elements in #Punjab.

FIRs have been registered at PS Chheharta and PS Cantonment, #Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and identify other members associated with the network.

In a major breakthrough, Gurdaspur Police and the Counter Intelligence Wing jointly solve the grenade attack case at Kalanaur, Gurdaspur within six hours of the incident.

Acting swiftly on technical and human intelligence inputs, the main perpetrator responsible for the attack has been apprehended.

Preliminary investigation reveals the involvement of a foreign-based handler.

Further investigation is underway, and both forward and backward linkages are being thoroughly examined to identify and dismantle the entire network behind the attack.

A State Level Law & Order Review Meeting in virtual mode was held today which was attended by senior Special DGP/Additional DGP/IGP/DIG rank officers deputed as Supervisory Officers for Districts/Commissionerates, Range IGP/DIGs, all Commissioners of Police and all Senior Superintendents of Police for reviewing law & order and crime and emphasizing the core policing priorities of the Punjab Government.

Directions were issued to all field units to strengthen police presence and police patrolling through strategic nakas, mobile patrols, vehicle checking and effective area domination for enhancing public confidence and ensuring secure environment.

The progress of flagship initiatives ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ and ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ was reviewed with special focus on dismantling the financial networks of drug trafficking by taking legal action against illegal Hawala Operators channelizing the funds of the drug trade.

Strong emphasis remains on people-friendly policing through regular engagement with Citizens, Associations and Village Defence Committees for strengthening Police-Public Partnership.
