How We Created Our Xioverse Villain

Every community needs a common enemy—something that embodies the challenges they face, something to rally against. For @xioverse, we didn’t just want a villain; we needed a symbol of a universal struggle. Enter the Monstrous Clock, a creature designed to suck the dreams from people's lives, representing the pressures and obstacles that rob us of our passion and potential.

It started with a simple idea: what if time itself was our enemy? Using Midjourney, I began exploring the visual concept. Each prompt brought a new layer to the creature—a twisted, mechanical beast with intricate gears and a menacing presence. Vary Subtle and Vary Region allowed me to sculpt the finer details, shaping it closer to the nightmarish vision I had in mind.

With my background in civil engineering, I went further. I researched clock mechanisms, diving into the intricacies of gears. Using AutoCAD, I designed these gears in 3D, making sure they weren’t just functional but also reflected the monster's oppressive nature.

When the concept was solid, I handed the design over to our resident artist. He used Blender to sculpt the clock monster, integrating my exported gear designs into its twisted body. Then came the finishing touches—the dream-sucking jewel, an ominous element that completed the creature's horrifying narrative.

Finally, the Monstrous Clock was rigged with moving parts, ready to terrorize and embody the battles we all face.

Our villain was born—not just a character, but a symbol of the obstacles we stand against as a community.
