I’m a very active over seventy who only stopped working because of Covid. I miss work and really wonder about retirement. We oldies have so much to offer.
At the very height of @Glen_Hansard's fame, I was walking down Broadway with my girlfriend. Just south of 14th he passed us with his guitar on his back. We made eye contact while I tried to process the recognition. I turned around to double-check and he must have known because he nodded to say, "Yup, it's really me." I nodded back and kept walking. I looked it up later and Glen was casually walking up Broadway with his guitar to play a huge show. Legend.
@ingridmileyRTE I also rang Joe today about caring for my husband. He has Parkinson’s disease and because of some cognitive issues I have to watch him twenty four hours a day. This has gone on for 3 years and I have not left his side for that time. I am now going into burnout and nobody cares.
@margaret19500@McConnellDaniel@rte I think I would call it vindictive - why would somebody quote the marks you got in your degrees. And as for Martins background his family were hard working people who kept a market gardening business going and raised their children in difficult times the 1960’s but why cover this
@rteliveline@joeliveline Some people on https://t.co/EEQ1tMBNSE asked if I was living in a mansion-no I live in a small bungalow in North Kildare and that’s what it’s cost. I do wonder what will happen during the winter or when my husband dies. It’s terrifying and I did’nt think This is how things end.
@rteliveline@joeliveline Hi I’m Patricia and I would like to clarify a few things. I am on a reduced pension because a group of women and some men were sacrificed to pay Ireland’s debt during the Troika era. I pay €400 per month as level pay to Bord Gais for gas and Electricity.
'All of my life I worked, and at this stage of my life at 71 - I feel we are forgotten about'
Patricia says she doesn't know what her and her husband will do in Winter with the rising cost of living
