In Wyatt’s article, the org seemed to walk back Brinker’s control of the 53 roster, clarifying that he would break ties between the GM and coach on roster decisions. It still seems like Brinker’s position is more “primary” but what do I know.
NFL regards Titans G.M. job as "primary" executive position, even if it isn't. This allows Tennessee to interview non-G.M. executives from other teams. It also obscures the potential Rooney Rule violation(s) in the two-step ascension of Chad Brinker. https://t.co/Zl7b24noyG
We’ve had lots of low times in these 27 years but this year feels different. It feels like we as fans have very little connection to what the Titans team was all those years ago when we first became fans. I hope it isn’t too long before we can have something positive to cheer for
Congratulations to Mike Keith for being named the next “Voice of the Vols”
One of the top play-by-play radio announcers in sports, Hall of Fame radio voice and VFL Mike Keith, is returning to Rocky Top as the next “Voice of the Vols.”
If you include the L'Jarius Sneed extension, the Titans handed out $187 million in guaranteed money last offseason. $40 million more than any other team, and much of it to players in their late 20s.
10 months later, the person in charge of that is fired. https://t.co/d9Ajfsu74k
@jwyattsports@Titans As Josina Anderson pointed out, this is a way to give Brinker the role without having to comply with the Rooney rule in the GM hire. Whoever is hired for the GM position will only be a yes man to Brinker. This is wrong.
This may sound simple, but the Titans need to choose a direction as a franchise.
They spent massive in free agency last year, acting like a team that felt it was on the precipice of competing for the playoffs: signing Calvin Ridley, Lloyd Cushenberry, trading for L'Jarius Sneed, etc.
But did so with a QB who was a developmental project and clearly was not ready to be the QB of such a team.
They own the #1 pick this year and are in desperate need of a QB. Are you committed to developing a young QB? Are the veteran contracts all over the roster players you plan to stick with during the development?
The plan has been rudderless.
It's past time to figure it out.
Yes...but I think what the Titans need most is an owner with a vision for the franchise and the patience to stick with that vision. This amount of firings in a short time speaks to that lack of vision/patience. Pick a path and stick with it for more than a year.
With this depressing season winding down, it’s hard for me to trust that Amy and the organization can even get the right people in place to turn the team around. How many cycles will it take? #titans
