I am no great fan of Churchill (for among other things suggesting deployment of mustard gas to put down unrest in African colonies seeking independence), but this quote from his memoirs is worth repeating:
“Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it. Ignorance may deride it. Malice may distort it. But there it is.”
The fact that your Twitter correspondent seems to be justifying a transactional r’ship w/h truth underscores the sick state of our polity & others atm. It gave UK a Brexit, gave fascism a platform in the Oval Office & recently delivered us a No result for #TheVoice It demeans us all.
That’s what Ten argued this week in the Federal Court - that BL should be ordered to pay into Court a sum of $200,000 to cover some of Ten’s & LW’s legal fees if the appeal is unsuccessful.
BL already has a costs order of $2 mio from the original hearing ordered by Justice Lee.
Justice Abraham, who presided over the security for costs hearing this week will give her decision at a later date.

Op-Ed: The Failure of J.D. Vance’s “Our Ohio Renewal”—More Questions Than Answers
J.D. Vance has built much of his political identity around his fight against the opioid crisis, but there’s a shadow that looms large over his narrative—a shadow cast by his time at Sidley Austin, the law firm that represented Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin.
Purdue has been one of the primary culprits behind the opioid epidemic, paying billions in settlements for its role in the crisis that ravaged communities across the country, including those in Ohio. While Vance himself may not have worked directly on Purdue’s defense, the association raises serious questions about his commitment to solving the very crisis his former client helped create.
@elonmusk Well, that's funny Uncle Elon , coming from a guy who bought Twitter solely to turn it into a Trump- supporting Social media platform. That's weird isn't it bro?🤔
Twitter has lost over 80% of its value.
Truth Social has lost 90% of its value.
Lies, hate, stupidity, disinformation, defamation, propaganda, & silencing the truth, are a shit sandwich.
People don't like shit sandwiches.
Do something good, or go away.

I know of two people in NSW (known to my family) that have ended their life by Euthanasia in the last few weeks, both with diseases - likely to die in next 6 months. Even if family are supportive it’s a difficult process if they haven’t come to terms with it.
Thank you for the share Melissa & I’m so sorry for the loss of two friends in such a short space of time. Nobody in my family & friendship circle has chosen VAD but it is in a conversation topic from time to time. I’m sure these end of life discussions among family members aren’t easy when it becomes real & not theoretical, even when, as you say, support is there. Hopefully those close to the person who are grieving can also appreciate the dignity & control it gives a person at their worst moment. 🙏🌷
Entering Oxford. Feeling a rush of emotions.
I just left Amsterdam, where my aunt lives. She told me that my education was revenge.
Vengeance against her father, who banned women of our family from school, vengeance against the Taliban, and those who fear an educated woman.
@SaraWahedi Well done you! Congratulations.
🔥🔥🌷🌷💥💥
Best of luck for your studies.
You will inspire many women & girls who sadly also experience this repression & misogyny.
