(1/2): And that’s a wrap for the Galway East selection conventions for the upcoming local elections in June!
Last night in Ballinasloe both Galway East Councillor Peter Keaveney and YFGs Alan Harney were selected to contest the the election in the Ballinasloe LEA.
Councillors Jimmy McClearn & Michael Moegie Maher selected to contest Local Elections 2024 for Loughrea LEA Galway County Council
Pleased to guest-chair this convention - the values of Patrick Hogan & Kevin O'Higgins in establishing the independent Irish State 1922 🇮🇪 remain!
@Nelius_Cotter It really is u10 level hurling to see you defending McConalogue over this. YFG for over 5 years have been raising the issue of maintaining the derogation. We hold the government responsible and of course the Minister responsible for fighting our corner on this issue.
@Cian_Domican @yfg@McConalogue @voteTimLombard @MacranaFeirme@OgraFiannaFail Ye clowns published an agricultural policy document today that had no mention at all of the nitrates derogation. McConalogue put up no fight. Cutting off our nose to spite our face and all that!
The preferred leader of the new Fine Gael - United Ireland Party in 1933 of WT Cosgrave, James Dillon, TF O’Higgins and many others was the former Minister for Agriculture Patrick Hogan TD.
He declined for personal reasons, including to manage his farm and solicitors practice.
A reminder about the Galway East event tonight welcoming Taoiseach @LeoVaradkar to the constituency alongside our MEP @MariaWalshEU with local councillors and members!
Galway East Fine Gael send our sincerest sympathies to Kay, Fiacra, Sarah, Ciara, Tara and the extended Cooney family on the untimely passing of Jimmy Cooney.
We will join with his family and friends to pay him a final tribute for his loyal service to our party and his community in a guard of honour ahead of his requiem mass on Saturday, gathering for 11:30am at St Patrick’s Church Bullaun.
Requiem mass 12 noon.
