Today teachers joined unionists and community members to send the Treasurer a clear message on his proposed changes to workers compensation. Workers health is worth more than a budget line item. @AFlohm
“By reducing class sizes, increasing education support personnel, giving teachers time to plan lessons and collaborate with colleagues and reducing administration and compliance workloads you would see more early career teachers want to stay in the profession, and more people choose teaching as a career.”

“If people are gaming the system it’s not workers. It’s insurers, providers, they’re the ones making money out of the system. They’re just picking an easy target by going after injured workers,” - Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey https://t.co/hbfSdutWpe
This week Peter Dutton made it clear he wants to interfere in schools, and tell teachers what to teach and how to teach it.
We've seen ideological attacks on the teaching profession before. So where is the Opposition Leader getting his ideas from?

Meet Mark, a dedicated TAFE teacher in the ACT who is passionate about ensuring students are apprentice and job ready in the Construction and Trades Sector.
Mark spoke with us about the necessity for government funding to re-establish TAFE as the strong public provider of vocational education. This funding would lead to a vital increase in support staff and teachers, more student resources and improved equipment and facilities.
Each day, dedicated TAFE teachers like Mark are helping people achieve their learning goals and land a secure job. He knows that students need to be job ready and well trained using modern purpose-built equipment.
Join us and Mark in calling on the Government to increase funding for TAFE. It’s time to #RebuildWithTAFE and make sure our TAFE system can continue to deliver quality education and training for Australia’s future workforce. ➡️https://t.co/qPLEMn6dWX

Why does the parliamentary party refuse to progress the peace process by recognising Palestine?
Have not heard a logical reason why the will of the ALP Nat Conf and the majority of R&F is ignored. Recognising Palestine is part of the peace process not an impediment to peace!
Universities *should* be bastions of free speech, academic freedom, and democracy. These limitations on the right to protest are unacceptable @Sydney_Uni. 👎
New research has found that #wellbeing programs for teachers can do more harm than good.
Read about the new concept of 'cruel wellbeing' — the idea that sometimes, wellbeing programs can sometimes do more harm than good - in IE magazine.

ACT TAFE (CIT) starting pay will go to $101,884 from June 6 because @AEUACT members were united and willing to take action for a better deal.
$100k is a fair starting wage for someone who is experienced and expert enough to teach their trade or vocation.
Excellent to have our keynote speaker Dr Don Zoellner at our National TAFE Council.
An insightful presentation on the history of equity-based education policy and how we should question the categorisation of ‘disadvantaged groups’ & whether other models should be explored.
School staff have a right not to be subjected to sexism and sexual harassment in their workplace. Hopefully stories like this and introduction of a positive duty to prevent sexual harassment will see this treated more seriously in our schools.
