3,500 young people participated in the 1st year of SYEP Pride -the LGBTQ+ initiative in @NYCYouth Summer Youth Employment Program, it is the *largest* #LGBTQ workforce program in the world + in history.
I’m incredibly proud to have created this program with @NYCMayor’s support.
We’re so proud to have the WORLD’S largest LGBTQ+ youth workforce program right here in NYC.
🏳️🌈 Our administration is supporting young LGBTQ+ New Yorkers by delivering welcoming and affirming job opportunities as they begin their careers. Hear more:
“..when a government’s workforce underrepresents the Asian community, policies won’t address that community’s truest needs..Although Asian workers account for 15% of NYC’s adult workforce, only 10% of government workers identify as Asian.”
AAPI Heritage Month may be over, but the work of building representation, equity, and opportunity for Asian New Yorkers continues!
I’m proud to have co-authored this piece with Jimmy Pan, Exec Director of NYC’s Equal Employment Practices Commission, on why more Asian New Yorkers should consider careers in public service. Our city is strongest when the people shaping policy and delivering services reflect the communities they serve—and there’s still so much work to do to ensure Asian New Yorkers are represented at every level of government.
If you’ve ever thought about serving your community, there’s no better time to step up. Read our City & State op-ed:

Definitely see the same nonpartisan dynamic for animal protection throughout New York.
“..at a time when Americans can’t seem to agree on anything else, animal rights are a rare issue on which many conservatives and liberals periodically find common ground.” - @NickKristof
Here's what the pork industry doesn't want you to know about the way it sneaked a provision into the 2026 farm bill that would nullify ballot measures that improve animal welfare, while helping Chinese companies torture American pigs. The issue is personal to me, because we once raised pigs on our family farm, and I saw that these are not commodities but animals rather like dogs: smart with very distinct personalities. A naughty boy who punishes a single animal may be punished, but an adult who presides over the systematic abuse of hundreds of thousands of pigs as a business model is hailed as a visionary CEO -- and voters get that, and that's why they have backed laws that improve animal wellbeing. This is, remarkably, an issue that unites many liberals and conservatives alike; @TomiLahren, @Cernovich and @IngrahamAngle are among those who have been outspoken on this issue. I hope R and D members of Congress alike will stand firm, for the stakes are immense, with four pigs slaughtered around the clock on average all year. Here's a gift link to my piece: https://t.co/NWQbJK6JTc I welcome your comments.
“If we’ve seen anything today, politics can make strange allies” - @CharlesLavineNY on the “rugged individualists who prospered by pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps” and the “utopian socialists” who voted No on the state budget.
Today I proudly voted YES on the 2026-2027 state budget. Thank you to my colleagues in the Assembly Majority working together on a strong spending plan that balances fiscal responsibility with a committment to the needs of hardworking New Yorkers and their families.
The Assembly is about to conclude the latest state budget in 16 years.
And it’s @CPeoplesStokes last one.
“One more time!” Assembly sergeant-at-arms Wayne Jackson exclaimed as she rose to speak.
“This is how the sausage is made,” the retiring Assembly leader said. “It is not cute — in fact it’s ugly, but it gets done.”
🐶 🐱 🐹 🐦 “This funding awarded today is going to make a real difference, helping to better equip these vital facilities with the tools they need to keep our furry friends safe and well cared for as they wait to meet their new families.” - @GovKathyHochul
New York is sending nearly $10 million to animal shelters and rescue organizations statewide, aiming to upgrade aging facilities and strengthen care for dogs, cats and other companion animals waiting to be adopted.

Very interesting piece by @KennyTorrella at @voxdotcom about how Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of factory farms yet don't see eating factory farmed meat as a moral problem: https://t.co/CQwKEZAHnx
Proud to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month in Albany today!
While the forces of hate try to stoke division, we're showing the world that here in New York, we stand united. Our diverse cultures and communities make us stronger. And we'll never stop fighting for them.
Every parent deserves the chance to give their child a fair shot.
Opportunity should not depend on your zip code or paycheck.
With this budget, New York is on a historic path to universal child care.
This morning, @GovKathyHochul will make a budget announcement in Albany. The event will begin at approximately 9:00 a.m.
Event will be streamed live at https://t.co/lpPhWghH8w
Based on these results, the landslide winner of yesterday's NYC Council election was staying home.
Turnout was about 13% of active registered voters.
Wilson will be elected with about 6% of registered voters.
HUGE NEWS for editors: the AP has changed its style guide. It's now "healthcare" (not "health care") and "childcare" (not "child care") https://t.co/189NypUkyo
“New York has led the nation in tobacco control before..@GovKathyHochul’s proposal isn’t just about revenue; it’s about making it as difficult as
possible for a child to start a lifelong addiction.” via @CrainsNewYork

As NYC faces a significant budget gap, @GovKathyHochul’s proposal will generate much needed revenue for the city without impacting every day New Yorkers. It is expected to generate at least $500 million a year in recurring revenue.
New Yorkers show up for this city every day.
Some of the wealthiest property owners and foreign oligarchs don’t.
It’s time they start contributing like everyone else.
If you can afford a multi-million dollar second home in New York City, you can afford to join its residents in supporting the greatest city in the world.
