Today, I joined NACADA at the launch of Kenya's National Policy on Substance Abuse as both a public health imperative and fiscal responsibility milestone. Accountable governance and proper resource allocation saves lives, and I remain committed to the cause.

In anticipation of the national celebrations for International Women's Day tomorrow, we engaged in an open conversation as women leaders in our country. We discussed success stories and the challenges surrounding women's empowerment, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, as well as political and corporate leadership. We also reflected on the progress we have made as a nation and within our devolved governments since the Beijing Declaration of 1995.

As a county government, we remain committed to creating platforms that will accelerate the progress of women and girls.

Three decades after the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, our country continues to strive toward closing the gap in gender equality and women’s empowerment. Today, at Tom Mboya University, we gathered to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay2025, reflecting on both the progress made and the challenges that remain. Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to leading the charge in advancing women’s empowerment, inclusion, and rights.

We were honoured to host distinguished guests, including the First Lady of Kenya, H.E. Mama Rachel Ruto, Mama Dr. @IdaOdinga, @FinnishEmbNBO Ambassador H.E. Pirkka Tapiola, @unwomenkenya Representative Antonia Sodonon, alongside prominent women leaders, international community representatives, development partners, and women from across the nation. United, we stand ready to drive the women’s agenda forward and create a more equitable future for all.

I am delighted to have had the opportunity to address you, the great people of this continent on this special occasion; the Mjadala Afrika.
As I have said before, I am ready to serve my continent!

From the outset, I would like to pass my sincere gratitude to the African Union for convening such an innovative and constructive platform for a meaningful dialogue and for the rare opportunity to engage with fellow candidates and the African people. I appreciate the moderators for their impartiality, and my fellow contestants for objectivity and enriching the discussions.

Further, I wish to convey my heartfelt appreciation to the African Union Executive Council, Members of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC), the African Union Commissioners who attended the event physically or followed it virtually, the media fraternity who diligently covered the event, and the audience across Africa not only for tuning in, but also for sharing their valuable feedback.

Lastly, I would like, in a very special way, to thank my team, family, friends and fellow Kenyans for their solidarity, love and best wishes that made my preparations and participation in the debate today to be an exceptional, fulfilling and worthwhile experience.

This morning, a key engagement took place between KNCCI, led by KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto, and the Council of Economic Advisors to the President led by David Ndii.

This was a strategic meeting to gear the country to economic recovery.
