When it comes to the nature of reality, the mind cannot understand what it cannot understand.
However, it can understand THAT it cannot understand and even WHY it cannot understand - and it turns out that's enough.
That sounds very likely. Also agree with the infinite possibilities and that we will likely one day be "gods" ourselves, but as someone who can enjoy it! As someone who remembers being this person too. Looking forward to comparing universes when the time comes. You can take mine for a spin if you'd like.
Ok I see what you're saying, and perhaps I misunderstood. I thought you were going the Buddhist route, suggesting that cessation of some sort was the goal. I was using Earth broadly to mean incarnated existence, but you're totally right that it doesn't have to be this dimension or planet.
@gv80812 Seeing beyond* conceptual categories
I read again and I basically agree with everything except the liberating ourselves from Earth bit. Nothing has gone wrong here.
Are you sure there is anything to escape, or anyone to do the escaping?
My distinct impression is that existence is a very intentional unfolding of our own design (read: God's, consciousness, the one mind of reality which is not other than our mind) which will eventually real-ize heaven on Earth - ie a perfection that can be experienced and mean something to someone as opposed to the static and unappreciated perfection of the unmanifest ground of being.
Freeing ourselves from the shadow qualities of ego and seeing being conceptual categories that perpetuate suffering is a part of that process, but I'm pretty sure realizing Samsara is Nirvana is not the same as escape.
@_space_punk_@Aikun011 Truly unbelievable. It makes me so angry to imagine people told that they won't ever feel better. Modern psychiatry is killing people.
My experience is that, when you're looking down into it, the well of pain looks endless. It's not. It takes time and it may hurt, but it has a bottom, and it is much closer than it appears.
Depression is simply being disconnected from your Heart. That's it. "Chemical imbalance" is an effect, not the cause, as well as a psyop to sell you pharmaceutical drugs.
Love and joy are your very nature and available at all times, but only if you're willing to feel EVERYTHING else.
You are disconnected from your heart because there is a feeling you aren't willing or able to feel. Because it seems impossibly painful.
Usually it's some form of deep grief, anger, regret, shame etc. It may go back to trauma in childhood. Or something that happened more recently. It may have to do with how you're living now.
If this is you, you likely are not even fully aware of what it is you're not feeling or how to feel it. There are entire parts of your mind, your persona, and your life built solely to protect you from that feeling.
But drugs will never, ever heal you on their own. They may numb you further and allow you to function, or even feel a little better, but it will be hollow and incomplete compared to the joy available when your heart is connected to your consciousness.
The only way to reconnect is to find it and feel it. There are practices that can help, especially those focused on feeling. Crying in the shower is probably the top, if you can manage it. See if you can find it in you.
Plant medicine can crack you open. I highly recommend Iboga. But there are many others that can help too.
I share this because there are a lot of people out there who still accept the bullshit from our modern health industrial complex.
If it's not working, maybe it's time to try something else.
@gv80812 I agree with this AND I find that if I have a message to deliver, it is received much more readily when delivered in the context of a friend on the path, relating my own experience, rather than in the form of a teacher delivering either a universal or personalized prescription.
Maybe I am missing what you are saying, but I feel like this is one of the first times I feel like I've really disagreed with your take.
There may be no fixed or conceivable structure to underlying reality - it is empty in that sense and inseperable from mind. But it is far from being without meaning or purpose!
The very appearance of experience arises from an innate desire and deep "Will to Be and Know" - Iccha-shakti - belonging to the ultimate and unmanifest reality, inseperable from the core of our own being.
This is a play of aggregates, but it is not JUST a play of aggregates. It is a wish granted! It may not exist objectively but it arises with extreme precision for your own gratification, to provide the possibility of meaning and growth.
And yes, each individual has their overlapping but distinct dream which is valid for them- including the schizophrenic.
Challenges may arise when consensus is required, which we have also desired such that we may experience knowing ourselves as other and sharing in this experience.
@lekimgym It's only few decades of life that separate most from being able to appreciate how fortunate they are to hear to birds. Realize it now and you will be far ahead of almost everyone you know.
@gv80812 Of course! Check out the Platform Sutra specifically.
It features the story of how Huineng goes from illiterate janitor to becoming the 6th Patriarch of Zen by schooling everyone at the monastery using an anonymously griffitied poem that addresses this metaphor. Fantastic read.
What is this "pagan" world that you are referring to? That is a word the Christian cultures used to describe an incredibly wide variety of societies and belief systems that they found heretical (ie not bound by their power structures), and therefore not worth defining as anything but "other than Christian" ie pagan.
And seeking to know the divine through the book of nature, rather than a literal book and the power structures that claimed their authority through it, was exactly the sort of practice that those Christians demonized.
