Being scammed is tantamount to being shot in the back of the head. You can't blame the victim, but actually you just did so bravo.

Also, trafficking is illegal regardless of 'consent', because there is no such thing as consensual trafficking. When you can't quit or complain to HR and fear for your life if found to be 'disloyal', you aren't safe.
