CLG Chill Chartha Anniversary Day / Lá Cuimhneacháin
Ar an Domhnach 9 Samhain 1924 d’imir an club a chéad chluiche peile oifigiúil nuair a thug siad óstáil ar Aodh Ruadh i Sraith an Iardheiscirt.

On Sunday November 9th 1924 the club played its first official football match when they hosted @aodhruadh in the South Western League.

On Saturday 9th November 2024 we will celebrate this date as part of our centenary celebrations starting with an under 16s challenge match in Towney against Aodh Ruadh, at 6pm we will celebrate mass in St Cartha’s Church for deceased club members followed by refreshments and music in John Joe’s.

We would like to thank the club centenary committee (pictured with Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns) who's months of hard work and preparations resulted in a fantastic day last Saturday in both Towney and The Blue Haven and it was a proud day for the club and everyone who attended either or both events will agree it was a day to remember.

It's going to be great to see these lads back in the Cill Chartha jersey along with players with family connections to the club playing on the hallowed turf of Towney this Saturday as part of our Centenary Celebrations.

Centenary Day Schedule
We have an exciting day planned to celebrate Clg Chill Chartha's centenary year. Here is the schedule of events for the day:

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Underage Registration
Kick off the day by registering your children for the various activities and matches. This is a great opportunity to meet other families and ensure your kids are set for a day of fun.

11:45 AM - 12:30 PM
Under-14's Match
Cheer on our young athletes as they showcase their skills in a spirited under-14 match. This game is open to all local kids and those connected to families and friends from Kilcar who fall within this age group.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Ladies' Match with Under-8's Playing at Half Time
Enjoy an exciting ladies' match, with a special half-time game featuring our talented under-8 players. It's a wonderful chance to see future stars in action.

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Men's Match with Under-10's Playing at Half Time
Witness a thrilling men's match, with a half-time game played by the under-10s. This promises to be a highlight of the day, showcasing the dedication and skill of our community members.

Fun Day Activities Throughout the Day
In addition to the scheduled matches, we have a variety of fun day activities planned to keep everyone entertained. From games and face painting to food stalls and music, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

CLG Chill Chartha Centenary Celebrations day on Saturday 3rd August, join us in Towney and The Blue Haven as we celebrate 100 years since the founding of our club.

Starting at 11:30am in Towney with children's, men's and ladies fun matches, kids fun events and lots more to start the celebrations day off.

Then from 6:30pm in The Blue Haven join us for our centenary night with drinks reception on arrival, food, exhibition of club memorabilia, GAA president Jarlath Burns will be in attendance, guest speakers, a short history of our club on the big screens and music later with "The Minertones" your MC for the night will be Austin O'Callaghan.

It will be a night not to be missed and defiantly one to remember as we celebrate the 100th year since the founding of the club.
