@squarewindowpod@grahamkw@SamiraAhmedUK Excellent and enjoyable podcast. I do always find it strange when people think there was some mess up with Magical Mystery Tour being shown only in black and white. BBC 1 did not start colour transmission until 1969. Very few people even had colour tvs.
@4fHepcat@afneil George may famously not had any love of the “taxman” but he invested in Monty Python’s Life of Brian because he wanted to see it! He mortgaged(and risked) his home to do this. I don’t think he was too focused on any tax incentives at the time .
@afneil The crackdown on tax avoidance in the early 1980s also came from the courts cracking down on contrived tax avoidance schemes in cases such as Ramsay and Furniss v Dawson.
@JackPittBrooke@VFTLpodcast Aside from the relegation in 76/77 season, i remember Spurs flirting with relegation in 74/75 and 93/94. Does Danny have recollections of those seasons and any comparison to the current plight?
@davidhepworth@WIYElondon In mid to late 60s big bands did not generally do Xmas songs. Is John Lennox’s song under appreciated in recreating the genre? No Xmas songs in UK top 40 for Xmas 1970 or 1971. Happy Xmas released UK 1972 and there was a glut from 1973 on.
INTO BATTLE : brand new debut play, a century-old tale of Etonian louts, socialism, heroism and friendship before and during WW1. Worth a visit to @GreenwichTheatr I'd say. Review up, https://t.co/eeimNzrdW0
Just seen marvellous play by Hugh Salmon entitled “Into Battle“ at the Greenwich Theatre. Very powerful and moving story set before and during WW1. Runs until the end of October.
