We make a mistake when we talk about belonging as inclusion.
It's actually about the invitation.
The vulnerability in offering one.
And the choice to accept one.
Belonging's mutual in choice
To be theirs
And them, ours
To belong, you gotta be unsafe (vulnerable), to be safe.
Why Doesn't My Psychologically Safe Team Perform Any Better?

@MarkCCrowley No feel, own, and care for attention = no belonging.
= Lower well-being
= Lower performance
Belonging is the relational infrastructure that triggers the neurobiological systems for elite performance.
Time is a required token to play as an elite level.
You don’t have to be a SEAL to access what SEALs run on. Your neurobiology is the same. Your belonging infrastructure can be developed for elite performance.

Was recently chatting with a couple of senior leaders, both of whom love the Navy SEALs. So I asked what they thought made the Navy SEALs so excellent.
"I've done everything, and my team's performance isn't moving any higher. Now what?"
I hear this a lot.
I can tell you, when I was a high school teacher, and I didn't attend to the relational state of my students, they learned a lot less. That was on me.
