In 2016, 18-year-old Andrej Ciesielski secretly climbed the Great Pyramid of Giza with a GoPro, filming the whole thing.

Halfway up the 146-meter pyramid, police noticed him but he kept going, risking three years in jail. At the top, he enjoyed an amazing view before climbing down in 20 minutes.

When he got caught, officials made him delete his footage, but he later recovered it at home. Though illegal, he said the incredible experience and video were worth it.

When I was 6, I thought a Holiday Inn Holidome was the height of luxury.

In the 1970s, Holiday Inn embarked on a mission to revamp their hotels and introduced an innovative concept known as the Holidome. The Holidome was described as an "indoor fun center" and typically featured tropical-themed décor, kidney-shaped pools, mini-golf, billiard tables, tiki bars, table tennis, and shuffleboard. Regrettably, the Holidome's existence was short-lived due to the substantial maintenance costs associated with these facilities.

According to David Israelson, "The humidity from the indoor pools would damage the ceiling and make the inner-courtyard-facing rooms damp and stuffy. While the maintenance of these structures is really costly, they're very easy to demolish, and you still can keep the hotel."

Today, the Holidomes are mostly a nostalgic memory, with only a few left standing. Most of the remaining ones have been sold to different franchises, like Ramada Inn. However, there is an exceptional case of the Pearl on the Concho Best Western in San Angelo, Texas, which managed to fully restore their Holidome after it had been abandoned and destroyed by vandals. I've included a few shots of it before and after the renovations.
