What is your only comfort in life & death?
That I am not my own, but belong — body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
No secular meta narrative answers our deepest questions or solves our biggest problems. None of them bring satisfaction to the heart. None of them provide the Savior we need. Our hearts will always be restless until they rest in Him. And His name is Jesus.
@calebmorell Though I affirm the 1689, I think Heidelberg Catechism Q103 is the best articulation for New Covenant believers—a call to public worship, instruction, and spiritual rest.
Sin is never a forbidden good.
God is never a killjoy. God is a good Father. His commands are expressions of His love and against what destroys real joy.
Death was undefeated until Jesus died.
Because on the 3rd day, He rose again.
1 Corinthians 15:55
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?
God doesn’t always remove us from hardships. But God does promise to equip us through every hardship and to be present with us every step of the way (Heb. 13:20-21).
God will never give us more than HE can handle.
Our maturity in the faith is never towards self-sufficiency, but delightful dependence upon Christ.
Glory in HIS strength, not your own.
Christian, believe afresh today you are no longer an enemy or at enmity with God. We have the irrevocable relational peace with him that Jesus Himself has with the Father (Col. 1:20, Rom. 5:1).
