Let me try again, more nuanced: whatever the musical tradition of your #church, don’t change it when you start to involve #children. Kids can ‘get’ Townend or Tallis. Both are ‘real’ in their place. Be authentic to your own tradition. Don’t compromise. Aim high.

This is my childhood #CofE #choir. Few came from churchgoing families, but many are still involved in churches today, at least one ordained.

By 2000, this had gone, in the failed search for 'family friendly' #worship - losing the one thing proven to bring young people in.
