@Bill16804185821@GodotIsW8ing4U@jessehawken Because Nazis we’re actually bad people, and if you think the Fed in ST is fascist, it shows a woefully inadequate understanding of how awful the Nazis actually were.
@kindaveryfurry@ThatchEffendi They are clearly the Protagonists of the movie…Pro meaning in favour of ….I don’t actually think that the Fed would function in reality. But in the context of the movie they are clearly the lesser of two evils if you are human.
@LilUziVartan@peterrhague It’s a good movie, I’m not better at making movies than Verhoeven, I am however more qualified at understanding history and Verhoeven does not understand Fascism.
@kindaveryfurry@ThatchEffendi People notice it, it’s just veerhoeven managed to make a movie where supporting what he thinks is a fascist is the logically better choice.
@Bill16804185821@GodotIsW8ing4U@jessehawken People know that’s what he intended. veerhoeven though had a superficial understanding of Nazism and therefore his attempts to make the fed a fascist govt are superficial. He failed in his intention.
@gareththomas54@DanNeidle Why do you think it’s detrimental to society? Like what do you actually think the problem is with some people having something that other people don’t?
@NoodleMC2@TheOmniLiberal Because it’s all a bit of a nothing, it was never the solution to everyone’s problems but equally it’s not the cause of them either.
@DiscipleOfZara@SwannMarcus89 Mostly Russian and Austria to be fair, France wasn’t particularly bellicose because they thought they couldn’t handle the Germans without British support, and British support wasn’t guaranteed.
@LT_JohnnyRico@breakfastguy32@LLienid@SwannMarcus89 Churchill was a political pariah after ww1 due to Gallipoli, no one was listening to him. if you want to run an apologia from the Nazis at least try to get the facts right.
@jured100@sircalebhammer The benefit for the US with it strong history of growth and the fact it has low taxes means it does have the capacity to do so. The 🇫🇷 are in a terrible position because they already have massive tax burden with spending that can’t be cut politically.
@jured100@sircalebhammer Doesn’t work like that, US will need to raise taxes or cut spending to get its deficit under control. It spends a huge amount on interest payments as a percentage of receipts as is.
@PaulRWeir87@sircalebhammer It’s just hedging my bets. The EU is much more fucked than the US, though the US isnt all sunshine and rainbows either, I agree.
US but with UAE taxes and migration system (+possible naturalization for really competent people) would be a dream!
@jured100@sircalebhammer You are assuming that the US won’t follow suit, congress is incapable of controlling spending and Taxes are way lower than in Europe.
@2A9776@charlescwcooke@redfang58 Yes the right wing Conservative Party were great supporters of communism… absolutely illiterate position to hold. Read a book.
@2A9776@charlescwcooke@redfang58 They weren’t actively invading a country every 6 months at the time. The express reason Britain thought H was evil and declared war is because he refused to respect the rights of other nations and repeatedly broke his promises
@2A9776@charlescwcooke@redfang58 Stop shifting the goalposts, your original point was the didn’t know and it was about upholding British hegemony. I pointed out that the British did know the odious nature of the Nazi state.
