Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. Itโs about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, letโs honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.
We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedsideย after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence.
