After 48 hours of relentless cyber warfare across Jeopardy, Boot2Root, Battlefield, Attack & Defence, and Source Code Review challenges

Team Error (Nigeria) emerged as 1st Place winners, securing the $10,000 Grand Prize.

This prestigious competition brought together elite cybersecurity teams from 12 West African countries, each representing their nation and showcasing the very best talent the region has to offer. Competing against such exceptional teams made this victory even more meaningful.

The trophy is the visible reward, but the real story lies behind the scenes months of preparation, countless hours of practice, teamwork, resilience, and a shared determination to excel. The competition was only the final test; the real work had already been done.

To my incredible teammates, thank you for the dedication, trust, and sacrifice throughout this journey. Every challenge we solved and every point we earned was a result of our collective effort. I’m proud to have stood alongside such talented individuals.

This victory is not just for our team; it is a testament to the growing strength of cybersecurity talent in Nigeria and across Africa.

I looked him dead in the eye.

"I don't. I just know how to look like I do."

He laughed. Thought I was joking.

I pulled up my browser history from last Tuesday.

"How to configure VLAN on Cisco switch"
"What is VLAN"
"Cisco switch won't save config"
"Cisco switch blinking orange meaning"

Showed him a ticket from that same day where I "expertly resolved a critical network segmentation issue."

It was the same switch.

His face went pale.

"So you just... Google everything?"

"Not everything. Sometimes I ask ChatGPT."

He asked what he should focus on learning.

"Learn to sound confident when you have no idea what you're doing. The technical skills will follow."

He starts his senior role next month. I'm training him well.
