A female NHS employee shared a disturbing story with me.

A colleague asked a patient who identified as a trans woman whether they would prefer a female member of staff to carry out an intimate examination.

The patient said yes.
So she had to do it.

The patient was clearly male - and appeared to be sexually aroused. Both by having his female identity affirmed and by being intimately examined by a woman.

She was left feeling deeply distressed and questioning why her employer had placed her in that position.

What kind of employer subjects female staff to an experience many would reasonably regard as abusive?

The police are facing similar questions.
