A surreal wildlife experience...we went looking for the majestic Royal Bengal tiger in Sundarbans... alas, what we found was its concrete cousin!!!
#Sundarbans for the uninitiated, is one of the world's most storied mangrove ecosystems, home to the legendary Royal Bengal tiger, Irrawaddy dolphins, estuarine crocodiles, and a beautiful biodiversity, we all so fondly grew up reading about....and were all set to witness the majestic beings in action....cough, cough! What we weren't ready for was an open-air themed 'wildlife' park with artificial water bodies and wildlife figurines.
The celebrated watchtowers are now being used to spot 'concrete wildlife' - plaster tigers, spotted deer, artificial structure of a family of otters, an entire artificial turtle parliament, and some beautiful dolphin figurines...all frozen in 'unnatural' eternal serenity....
The dense forest that you pass through by the boat further dampens your hope of witnessing any form of life in this so-called wildlife safari. H/w, can't say the same about our enthusiastic tour guide with his mastery of words, knowledge and superhuman eyesight... uncanny, but true, the sole soul to spot the delta's 2nd largest bird from the watchtower, while the rest of us ordinary mortal selves could only catch a glimpse of the vast sky....beautiful sky, but sky only!
The landscape was captivating with its calm streaming rivers, birds, dense mangroves, real greenery and the Sundari trees. We did spot wildlife...1 baby croc, 1 crab in the shallows, 1 water lizard and a few storks, least bothered by our excitement of finally spotting some life in the wild :)
The systemic underdevelopment of the region makes you wonder...how come the wild has been emptied of life, yet the human lives around it remain untouched by development? This wasn't the Sundarbans that it is known so famously for. Outside Bengal tourists may still believe it, but for bongs it was rather sad to see your precious delta being left to your imagination...
Sundarbans will remain a rather overhyped, eco-tourism spot for me. The tigers, I'm certain, are out there somewhere, living their magnificent lives in elusive harmony with nature, hoping to be spotted by those gifted, someday...sometime later... once again, if we dare to take a trip back here....
Our @AkasaAir flight from Mumbai to Kolkata is quite a disappointment. So many broken seats, right next to me, in front and behind us! 😥 The cabin crew couldn't offer any alternatives that too for the premium price paid. Quite a sad first time experience #AkasaAir #customerexperience

Those impotent clowns who did nothing after 200 innocent citizens were killed in 26/11 are criticising Modi, despite his bold strikes eliminating hundreds of high-value terrorists inside Pakistan and destroying nine Pakistani air bases and multiple launch pads.
In the coming days your social media will be flooded with #Pakistan sponsored propaganda.

@Uber_India Huge shoutout and salute to your driver Mr. Sarad. 7:30 am as I hailed the ride to work, felt severely unwell n threw up🤢. I felt sick and was mortified to inconvenience the poor guy, to say the least! He amazed me with his empathy , patience and willingness to help.
Not even for a moment did he express his discomfort. Got the cab cleaned, so that I could travel in peace and kept checking if I did okay. Thank you for going above and beyond!

My mother, 70 years old, senior citizen, diabetic patient is being made to wait like this with her luggage checked in at 4:00AM at the Calcutta Airport by @flyspicejet staff. Till 9:30AM passengers weren't even served breakfast who have been stranded since 4:00AM. #Shameful
And that 6:20AM flight was on. By the time, passengers reached the airport in the wee hours of the morning, SMS/E-mails/Bot calls joined in to inform that the flight got delayed to 10:15AM due to operational reasons. And, now the same story flight is delayed to 12PM.
What's wrong with @flyspicejet . Don't you have some sense to have the flight called off for good and refund passengers proactively instead of making them wait endlessly with delayed updates related from 6:20AM -2:30PM. @AjaySingh_SG@flyspicejet
@themultipal@flyspicejet@AjaySingh_SG It's further delayed to 1:30PM. And how shameless of them. Apparently SG staff told stranded passengers about breakfast being served at 7:30AM, and shamelessly nothing was offered except the delayed news. This is an operational failure of the worst order. #Shameful#Spicejet
@flyspicejet@AjaySingh_SG Terrible experience with SG 515 from Calcutta to Mumbai. Passengers have been harassed with erroneous communication since last evening. 1st they informed about the 6:20AM flight being moved to 10:15AM, then they called up to inform about the confusion.
