Ever since Orbán came to power in 2010, tens of thousands of Hungarians have been out on the streets to protest against his policies, chanting “Democracy!” “Freedom!”, “Orbán, get lost!” or “filthy Fidesz”.

We Hungarians have clearly shown that we are pro-Europe and oppose Orbán’s pro-Russia and pro-China standpoint. We have been demanding fair elections, the end of the Fidesz mafia state and its propaganda machine.

These protests did not deter Orban from using his two-thirds majority in parliament to consolidate his power: to get control over the media, the justice system, to change the election territory and system, to destroy the opposition, to sell out the country to Chinese and Russian investors that were ready to pay for some “friendly service” by Orbán.

Ex-friends and colleagues of Orbán confirm that he always was ready to use any narratives that helps him get more power. And now he wants to keep it with all his might.
