After worship, we shared food with brick-kiln families and their children.
We share the love of Jesus through His Word, food, hope, and care. Every family is precious to God.
All glory to Jesus! ✝️🙏🕊⛪️🇵🇰

A LETTER TO THE BELIEVERS IN NIGERIA,
The Church Has Always Been Ahead of the Age.
The Church has led civilization from the beginning. That is not a slogan. It is a pattern that keeps repeating whenever people bother to look past the noise.
When literacy was rare, the Church copied manuscripts, kept libraries, and taught people to read so they could handle Scripture. When hospitals were not yet an industry, monasteries and parish houses became the first durable places of care. When universities were not brands, they were cathedral schools. When human capital looked unimpressive by modern metrics, the Church still formed minds, conscience, craft, and community. It did not wait for the world to invent dignity and then ask permission to practice it.
That is why the modern demand that the Church first obtain the world’s stamp of approval is historically illiterate. The world is not the Church’s examiner. Activists are not its bishops. Trends are not its creed. The Church does not exist to be ratified by the age. The age is judged by a Kingdom it did not found.
This is the current mood, and it should be named without panic. Public culture often treats Christ as an inconvenience and His Church as a problem to be managed. Faith is welcomed when it is decorative, quiet, and useful to a campaign. It is resisted when it speaks of sin, repentance, covenant, holiness, and a King who does not take opinion polls. That hostility is not new. It has only changed costume. Yesterday it wore imperial edicts and mobs. Today it wears platforms, policies, mockery, and the soft violence of being told to sit down and evolve.
Left to me, I have no interest in chasing that approval. I do not owe my peace to people who dislike the Cross and then demand that the Cross become more like them. The Church is not a brand in search of brand safety. It is a people under a Lord.
And the Church of God has passed through many phases and seasons of persecution. It has been banned, taxed, slandered, infiltrated, diluted, fashionable, unfashionable, hunted, and declared finished more times than any empire that tried to bury it. Empires have a talent for dying. The Church has a talent for outliving the announcement of its death.
Persecution has never been only swords. Sometimes it is prison. Sometimes it is ridicule. Sometimes it is the attempt to keep the buildings and confiscate the message. Sometimes it is the pressure to keep the vocabulary of faith while emptying it of Christ. Every season has its own furnace. The same fire that was meant to consume the Church has often purified it. When comfort made it lazy, pressure made it remember who it was.
So the present tension should not surprise anyone who knows the story. A Church that blesses what God blesses and refuses what God forbids will always collide with an age that wants religion without repentance. That collision is not evidence that the Church has failed. It is often evidence that it has not been absorbed.
Civilization did not invent the Church. The Church helped tutor civilization: law with a moral center, charity with a face, learning with a purpose, hope that death is not the last word. If the present world wants the fruit while cutting the root, that is its choice. It is not the Church’s assignment to apologize for remaining a tree.
The Church does not need the world to validate it. It needs only to remain the Church: gathered around Christ, unashamed of His name, unhurried by the latest outrage, unbroken by the latest season of pressure. Kingdoms rise and comment sections rage. The Church has seen worse winters than this one. It has also seen what comes after winter.
The world may hate anything that smells of Christ and His Kingdom. That hatred has never been the measure of truth. The measure is whether the Church still belongs to the One who led it through every age before this one, and who will lead it through whatever comes next.
Your brother,
Wilberforce Theophilus
