Conner Weigman Appreciation Week

[Chris Baldwin @ChrisYBaldwin]

Forever Coog and Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings on his impressions of this new UH team: "They're good, honestly. They're older than our team was. Really good on defense. A Kelvin Sampson team for sure.

"They're going to go as (new point guard) DJ (Thomas) goes. He's a great player.

"But they've got a lot of good complimentary pieces everywhere around. They play really well together. And obviously it's just exhibition, but a good win against Michigan. Just continue to build from there.

"Coach Kellen, Coach Samps, all those coaches are going to get them ready. I'm just excited to watch them play."

Former Houston Cougar Chris Cenac Jr. was given the game ball after making his NBA debut, scoring his first career points tonight in the Boston Celtics’ 134-99 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Conner Weigman Left Utah’s Stadium In a Walking Boot, and He Was Limited In Practice All Week — a @PaperCityMag exclusive. The true extent of what Houston's quarterback fought through in the Cougars' biggest game of the season is coming into focus. https://t.co/p9Dd4qSo8C

Important insight/reporting on @UHCougarFB QB Conner Weigman from @ChrisYBaldwin:

[Parker Ainsworth @painsworth512]

D) Houston is 18th in the AP poll. Last year, heading into the final week of October, 2 loss Oklahoma was 18th in the AP poll. They were an 8 seed in the CFP by year’s end.

While it’s largely out of their complete control, it’s not over either if they just stack up wins.

Michigan coach Mike Boynton Jr. on facing Houston:

“I told our team, there are 364 other teams in college basketball, and I’m not sure we could have played somebody better today, going into the season.”

“There’s no question in my mind, when March comes around, Houston will have a small number by their name and they’ll be expected to advance in the NCAA Tournament. And so that’s where the bar is.”

@Joseph_Duarte Not ranking Houston is idiotic

[ClutchCityCoog (The Voice of Houston) @htownsportsnow]

We need the boosters to go all in on Willie Fritz and this football program. We’re doing so much with the little money we’re given. Willie can win a championship here.

[Paws 🐾 @PawsUpCoogs]

@zalatorg Austin Armstrong is the man. No problems with him.

Tech and Utah held below 28 ppg and OSU just put up 57 and we held them to 32

[Paws 🐾 @PawsUpCoogs]

@diehardcoogs He held a great offense to 21 points. The league average is 28 ppg

Seeing some doomers in our fanbase say our season is over while we’re ranked No.18 in the nation with a 6-2 record…

If you’re ready to cut and run on the Coogs this season you have the complete wrong outlook on where we are.

Houston has a lot of goals to meet this season. We’ve only lost to Tech due to a questionable spot on the 2 point conversion and to Utah with a banged up offense who will recover this bye week.

November 7th is homecoming against Cincy and the first official CFP poll will release the day after on Nov. 8. We’re projected to be a Top 15 team with a CFP at-large bid in reach.

Focus on going 1-0 every week and everything else will take care of itself. We faced adversity and now we respond both as the team on the field and the fans in the stands.

Houston went 4-8 in 2023 and 2024. If you told me we’d be a top team in the nation a few years later I’d call you a liar. Willie Fritz is pushing to give us our first consecutive seasons with double-digit wins in UH Football history. Not supporting this team because we lost to the now No. 6 team in the country would show us you have no loyalty.

Every win we stack builds to something greater for this program and the point is to be there for the ride and celebrate every milestone along the way.

Being a fan means supporting the team, not just the success. If you really want to see this team succeed, make that statement by continuing to support and rep the Coogs. That’s how we turn our games into an unbeatable home field environment.

[Paws 🐾 @PawsUpCoogs]

@OvertonCroomes I agree with you. We need to change our fanbase culture and I believe my part is to explain why it’s important to support
