I saw a post talking about supporting other SWers because we are all marginalized, which I definitely agree with. But one of the commenters mentioned recommending not trying to make many close friendships in these communities for a myriad of reasons, and I hate that after the time I’ve spent here I agree with that sentiment a lot.

You have to think about the kind of person it takes to get into this. Not everyone can do this. Some do it because they have no other prospects. A lot of us have mental health conditions. And those that do it for love of the game can love control and manipulation in a way that bleeds over into their private lives as well. In a community full of self-proclaimed goddesses, is it any surprise that the community is full of narcissists?

Because people on X love to be argumentative and negative, this is my disclaimer that many of us are wonderful, kind, well-adjusted people. I am not saying all BDSM practitioners or SWers are unstable or toxic. Unfortunately though you can only get to know someone so well over the Internet and I’ve noticed many people, especially in the younger generation, have a disconnect between reality and “the people in their phone”. They don’t quite grasp or care as much who they hurt because they can’t see it, whether it be subs or other Dommes.

Money distorts all. Someone may swear to be your soul sister and that you’re like blood to them and then have an imagined slight or think you’re taking from their income stream and all bets are off. Suddenly everything you shared could be aired to the world. And we aren’t like subs and have the privilege of deleting accounts and coming back and starting fresh.

So basically, remember: 1) knowledge is power, so be careful what you share, 2) it’s often someone you would never suspect, 3) trust your instincts. If you find yourself sucked into Domme drama constantly to where it’s taking significant time away from getting your money, take a step back, reevaluate who you keep in your circle. I’m not saying don’t make friends, but stay vigilant and protect your peace.

I’ve had subs come and go and not batted an eye, but I’ve had close friendships over months here that ended in tears. And that’s a lesson I’ve had to learn. Remember what you’re here for. Think of fellow Dommes like coworkers. There’s some you get along with more than others, some you even enjoy the company of, but ultimately we all just work the same place.

ONLINE SWers new to things:
I know it might seem like SW is more acceptable than it used to be. I know for many primarily "online" SWers it can seem like NBD what with OF being popular etc. And also you are probably surrounded with other cool women/people doing the same thing so it feels like a lot of us do this stuff.
But you are actually living on the fringes of society whether you realize it or not.
Most of the world outside of this scene probably doesnt approve of your existence.
There are people who actively think you should be punished for this stuff.
You are an outsider no matter how many kindred spirits youve met during your online time as an SWer.
If you are doing ANYTHING with a sexual connotation to it (selling feet pics etc) then there are a lot of people who consider you a "whore." This is why all of us "whores" usually choose to stick together. And a lot of the outside world sees your feet pics to be as big of a transgression as they do things that YOU might consider "much worse." So no point judging each other.
You are already technically considered part of the "dregs of society" by a lot of the normies. I dont think this about you but unfortunately a lot of ppl really do.
NMW you are living on the edge and what you are doing has some risk to it. And you might never be able to truly go back to the anon life of the norms.
This is why we try to stick together. Adjust your mind!
