📌 I built PayToPin — a public leaderboard where startups rank by one thing: what they bid.
No votes. No algorithm. No editors.
Pin your product from $5. Want #1? Outbid whoever's there — you only pay the difference.

PayToPin is 1 month old. Full transparency:
– 50 products on the board
– 8 paid pins, 42 free ones we gave out to seed it
– $110 in paid bids
– highest paid bid: $19
The surprising part: the top 5 spots got 58% of all clicks.
What should I build next?
@growthhacker89 The co-marketing point is underrated. Tools that share a buyer but don't compete are the cheapest distribution there is. 13 days left, rooting for you. What's been the biggest MRR jump so far?
@builtwithrubel 750K views with no viral post is the more impressive stat. It means it's repeatable. 2 more years of that compounds into something big. What's been your best format so far?
@JulieFrench_ Hi Julie 👋 Building in the SaaS and side-project space, mostly marketplace mechanics and pricing experiments. Always happy to swap notes with other builders.
@timscheuer@elonmusk Same boat, about a month in here too. Agree that X feels like the place builders actually talk to each other. Curious: did the 17 signups come from your own posts or from replying to others?
launch day math:
Product Hunt → 24 hours of attention, then you’re buried
Google Ads → you pay for every click, forever
PayToPin → pay once, your pin stays up. no expiry.
$5 gets you on the board.

@Joi2James Shipping PayToPin. It's a public leaderboard where startups rank by what they bid. Outbid #1 and you only pay the difference. Curious what founders here would pay for the top spot 👀
@zuess05@ItsRakshithKris Getting so much traffic that the site crashes is the best launch problem there is. Congrats on 3rd. What's next for Pollen after the hackathon?
@shannholmberg Agreed, and it applies to marketing too. Founders don't want impressions, they want clicks. One of our pins got 27 clicks for $19 with no daily budget. Outcome pricing for visibility is underrated.
@theandreboso Prices dropping means more products in every category. That makes ranking the real bottleneck, not building. Most launch sites still hide how you get to the top. We went the other way and just show the price.
"Paying to rank is unfair."
Meanwhile every launch platform:
– upvote rings
– hunter networks
– "featured" slots sold in DMs
We just put the price where you can see it. Then we let anyone beat it.
