The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will accommodate Breeze balance transfers as it switches from the current Breeze fare payment system to a new, better Breeze system. Customers are still encouraged to spend down their stored fare by May 2, 2026. Remaining balances may be transferred from a current registered account to a new, registered Breeze account May 2 through Oct. 30, 2026.

MARTA is upgrading its entire Breeze fare payment system, including faregates and fareboxes, ticket vending machines, and fare media. Beginning March 28 through May 2, 2026, both the current and new Breeze systems will be active so customers can spend down their existing fare balance, purchase new fare media and create an account, or use the new tap to pay feature where you can simply tap a bank card or mobile wallet at the faregate or farebox to ride.

MARTA is currently upgrading its entire Breeze fare collection system.

New fare equipment including faregates, fareboxes and validators, and ticket vending machines are being installed systemwide.

Current Breeze fare media such as Breeze cards and the mobile app are not compatible with the new, better Breeze system and will be discontinued on May 2, 2026.

🎉🙌 It's official! GWCC/CNN Center Station is now SEC District Station, short for Sports, Entertainment, and Convention District.

This new name reflects the full range of destinations nearby, including State Farm Arena, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Georgia World Congress Center, and Centennial Olympic Park. Updated signage, maps, and digital tools will make navigating the station easier than ever.

The change comes alongside upgrades to the station’s roof and MARTA’s ongoing modernization efforts, ensuring a safer, cleaner, and more reliable ride for everyone.

On the anniversary of the Dome implosion, a special announcement!
MARTA is changing the name of GWCC/CNN Station (a.k.a. Omni, Dome, Philips, etc.) to Sports, Entertainment, and Convention District Station. SEC District for short.

The name change more accurately reflects the venues near the station and makes it easier for customers and visitors to navigate the system.
Hopefully nothing intrudes on our unveiling of the new name…💥🚍
