@0xCryptogymrat@Slayermusiq1 would be a dream come true actually :) the code can be refined more then, it doesn't exist to compete! it exists so something as culturally significant as RS isn't able to outright disappear. it'll be more obvious in 20 years
@Muntjesman1@samwcyo@maxbittker@sshell_ … like what? They’re on their own copy of the server, it’s open source. They aren’t playing on my hosted server, which I appreciate. All I ever ask is for people respect my effort when they use the project as a base :) looks like it needed backend edits to function too.
@Slayermusiq1 Congrats on the achievements!
You should only keep playing if you’re having fun :) when you finish your RS journey one day at least you can boot up LC’s server and reminisce no matter how much time passes.
One day, OSRS will only live on via Runelite folder screenshots…
@Slayermusiq1@AUTUMNELEGYRS If you can put together a pixel font set we can experiment with support, then need a full translation. That approach you’re doing is exactly what Jagex did for RS2 btw - and can be tough to maintain with updates :) Wonder what other options we have!
@AUTUMNELEGYRS@Slayermusiq1 Their fork is aimed at adding custom features and isn’t intended to be 1:1 for anything they add (slayer is fully custom) :) I’m happy to see people use it as a base for their own ideas!
@AUTUMNELEGYRS@Slayermusiq1@OldSchoolRS If it were an option I’d hear it out! All depends on the details.
I just want the game to be around when we’re old more than anything. Today doesn’t matter as much to me. Video game preservation, especially for transient experiences in online games, is at risk.
@HolySanctum@Slayermusiq1 There are some people already forking the codebase to make their own leagues, dmm, and entirely custom ideas! Anything is possible.
As for something “official,” I have no plans for a leagues-like event at this time, but that could change one day.
@CueNoLife Hi Cue!
Lead contributor here. Everything is CI/CD driven (open logs) so what you see in the source repo is what lives on the servers. You can even set it up locally to see what that looks like, and export a save file from the website :)
I didn't expect more than 50 people!
@Radingod1@AUTUMNELEGYRS Zanaris is not preservation. Their PS project is a nice idea, but with different goals. Aside from all the engine differences that you cannot revert, it's important all this stuff gets documented and saved for the generations after us.
@JagexAsh@OldSchoolRS Thanks for answering all our curious questions over the years!
I hope you'll still have some avenue to publicly connect with people 1-on-1. Discord's biggest flaw is that servers can't be indexed by https://t.co/WPQyOhc3UJ, so information is ephemeral.
@JagexAsh@TreesAreSpies I agree anyone could set out to design something "better," but it wouldn't do anything to document the game's history. The game was designed around its features/limitations. Context is important
Tanner spent thousands of hours playing OSRS and simply loves the game, that's all :)
@JagexAsh@NobodyImpo74600 Does newer content in Old School use buffer_full today or is it more of a legacy command? Have you ever seen what happens if the buffer gets full without checking for it?
@JagexAsh@anonymousg88355 That's really interesting, was there NPC config patrolling at the time? Is there any benefit to a config vs timer approach over the other?
@JagexAsh I have a historical RuneScript question: were music unlocks done through a mapsquare/mapenter trigger? Did you have one for entering zones as well i.e. multiway combat areas (or was this engine?), they seem to be 8x8 back then. Always been curious how it works. Thanks!
