I have moved to a new account @EPColchester where you can hear about all the great things we do to keep you safe, prevent crime, and catch criminals, please join me on this new account and I look forward to sharing with you.
Recently this bike had been driven dangerously in the Monkwick and Old Heath areas of #Colchester. Now it’s been seized by police and the rider reported for 4 traffic offences. This is the latest in a series of bikes seized for anti-social riding by Colchester CPT. #YouSaidWeDid
CPT officers executed 3 warrants yesterday across #Colchester. Approx 300 plants were seized. 2 charged & remanded. Whatever your view, it is illegal, the supply chain often involves exploitation & community harm, the profits fuel organised crime... and it’s our job to stop it.
Responding to local concerns of nuisance bikes in Greenstead, #Colchester CPT saw this make off down an alley. Undeterred, officers chased on foot and managed to drag the rider from the moving bike as he fled. Rider arrested, reported for 4 offences, bike seized. #YouSaidWeDid
This is an important development for local communities. If the riders ride their bikes in an anti-social manner once more, their bikes will be seized. If you witness such riding, please report it to allow us to take action. #YouSaidWeDid
We have responded to reports of anti-social riding in #Colchester by taking action.
This week we issued warnings to two people following complaints.
Through our enquiries with local people, we executed a drugs related warrant today and arrested three people.
#KeepingEssexSafe
Lots of proactive drug work from #Colchester CPT today. Plain clothes officers disturbed two dealers mid-deal who then fled on push bikes. But they had already been recognised and within an hour a team entered their house uninvited. Two arrested, drugs recovered.
@GeorgeBankes @PCSOLeeCompton Morning George. It depends what you have them for. If they’re in a van with other tools then it would be reasonable to assume you have them for work. If they are with you for use in the course of or connection with theft, then it becomes an offence under S25 of the Theft Act 1968
A wanted male failed to stop on his pedal cycle for me and @PCSOLeeCompton in #Colchester. Not being pursuit trained in the car, we decamped and gave chase on foot, catching him shortly after. Today he was charged and remanded for going equipped, fail to stop and obstruct PC.
@WashingBroken@EssexPoliceUK I’m not aware of any studies into what the public do/do not support the police doing during the Corona crisis, but we always try to make evidence-based decisions so if you have conducted your own research and are willing to share it I would be interested to read it.
Responding to concerns of persistent cannabis smoke from a garden affecting the local community during lock down, #Colchester CPT surprised 4 suspects with a rapid entry over their garden wall whilst they were mid-smoke. 4 arrested, house searched and drugs seized. #YouSaidWeDid
@WashingBroken@EssexPoliceUK As you say, when people are struggling and isolated, the last thing many want is to be isolated with the constant smell of cannabis. We don’t make the laws but possessing this plant is illegal and, as you would expect, police have powers to enter private areas to arrest people.
@SemajEloc@EssexPoliceUK I’m not sure I follow the logic that dealing with a suspect for one offence is made laughable or pointless because there are thousands of other unrelated offenders in the world. But certainly for the affected neighbours our intervention was far more effective than your metaphor.
@WashingBroken@EssexPoliceUK Although the police do sometimes save lives, the effectiveness of the majority of the work we do is not measured in lives saved. In this case, the quality of life for a large number of residents has been significantly improved.
@_Jason_Gibbs @EssexPoliceUK It was extremely important to the neighbours who couldn’t let their children in their own gardens due to the smell. The detrimental effect was obviously amplified with the Covid restrictions in place.
#BusinessAsUsual for #Colchester CPT yesterday. 30 charges prepared for court, COVID patrols, uninsured car seized, & 5 people dealt with after proactive drug patrols. A mini illegal pharmacy taken out of circulation: hash, skunk, 2C-B, cocaine, speed, ketamine, mushrooms & MDVP.
Male was charged with 4 offences & has now been remanded to face Crown Court trial - PWITS class B, PWITS class A, acquiring criminal property and possession of a S5 firearm. We rely on info from the community - tell us about any concerns and we’ll do our best to resolve them.
Responding to community concerns, #Colchester CPT have arrested a Male for possession with intent to supply large amounts of Class A and & B drugs. Cash and a Section 5 firearm also recovered.

A big ask to get proactive results during a lockdown but #Colchester CPT B shift were out tonight conducting numerous stops of people and vehicles. Around ten searches conducted, controlled drugs seized, and a wanted male arrested after he was found in a stopped vehicle.
This Op Vocal in #Tiptree yesterday was targeted at a location of specific concern to the community:
- Speed checks conducted on around 250 vehicles
- 8 drivers reported for traffic offences
- 3 stop search
- controlled drugs seized and one dealt with for possession.
