We are the Barnsley SEND Parent and Carers Alliance and our purpose is to effect change at strategic level of SEND. Children, young people, and young adults that are categorised as being/having a Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND) often use or access services..(1)
After 3 years of Bullying and slander we will now expose Contact for what they have done in Barnsley and namely to our parents.
This goes to the top! It is time that this charity is shown to be what it is, a shield for successive governments to ride roughshod over SEND families
You might want to have a read and then keep an eye for the rest. Let’s see if Ofsted protect volunteer strategic partners who don’t have the luxury to leave their SEND community!

Not to worry because if a local area isn’t meeting its Safety Valve agreement, they can EMPLOY Mr McCardle through his consultation company as an INDEPENDENT scruitneer
Remarkable choice of research lead
Many genuinely independent & capable research outfits are well-equipped to do this work…
…but it’ll be done by a company that consults for local government, & that has recently supported LA Safety Valve work

Exec. Dir. been in post 3 years now. Social care background.
Prev. 2 Exec. Dir. also from a social care but committed to Edu. Known and seen by parents, held SEND public talkabouts!
Feels like we just have an executive director for social care nowadays!
Education in a bad way!
A excerpt from BMBC senior leader and an excerpt from our local paper today.
Contact has nothing to do with our area. Their model of participation is finished in Barnsley and the DfE support that 100% it would appear.
Breaking: @bphillipsonMP has appointed @OrmistonAcads' CEO @TomRees_77 to lead a new school inclusion expert panel as part of their push to make mainstream schools more inclusive
Dame Christine Lenehan also appointed as a SEND 'strategic adviser'

A significant problem for children’s services is that they are dominated by people who work with systems, not with children. When ‘experts’ or ‘leaders’ argue about the merits of commissioning over procurement as an answer to catastrophic failures in care, there is no hope.
Write strategies and SEFs about partnership work all you want but the lived experience and that of staff is that BMBC Education and inclusion are siloed from Health and Care.
This is not even advertised on the Local Offer.
The only good bit is that Pats for Pants gets promoted!
1000s and 1000s of voluntary hours committing to strategic voice in Barnsley and the SEND and Inclusion services and ICB don’t even offer us a stall at the Local offer live event. 35 stalls @SarahNormanCX@LowderWendy
Shown you nothing but respect and this is what we get!
A Birmingham mum of 3 is taking her LA to court over post-16 cuts to her disabled son’s SEND minibus transport. Sabiha Aziz will get 45p/mile to make their own travel arrangements instead but says she can't be in 3 places simultaneously, twice a day https://t.co/j6yqkdMbmV
