The #9thICGSMeeting is held in Bichibich, GPAA, bringing together representatives from the Nuer, Dinka Bor, and Murle communities to review the commitments made during the 8th ICGS meeting in Bor in November 2025.

The primary objective of the meeting is to assess progress on commitments undertaken by chiefs, armed youth, women leaders, and Commissioners—key members of the Intercommunal Governance Structure (ICGS).

Notably, despite ongoing challenges such as sporadic attacks, abductions, and cattle raiding, some progress has been achieved.

During the #9thICGSmeeting, the structure developed an improved system to strengthen accountability for commitments related to communications, abductions, road openings, cattle raiding, and cross-border sporadic attacks among the communities.

What hinders the achievement of sustainable peace in South Sudan? Peace Canal’s translators help the Commissioner of Nyirol County, Hon. Bol Makuei’s peace message in different languages to ensure efficiency and clarity of the peace messages.
The 9th ICGS Meeting brings different communities together in Bich Bich to dialogue and find a better way to live together. Sustainable peace will mean our socio-economic growth, which has been making it hard for services to reach the intended communities that are in dire need of basic services, and discourages inter-communal conflicts, women, and child abduction, and cattle raiding.

In Bor we heard tragic stories from those impacted by violence in northern Jonglei.

The Ambassador discussed with the Governor of Jonglei the urgent need to end the violence & ensure humanitarian access.

Through our partners, the 🇬🇧 is providing support to the most vulnerable.

The governor of Jonglei, H.E Dr. Riek Gai Kok, and the CA of GPAA, H. E Gola Boyoi Gola, witnessed the handover of Bich Bich and Wuno’s Community Engagement Centres established with support from RSRTF Consortium members (Peace Canal and POF South Sudan), Bich Bich Payam, Gumuruk County.
In 2025, the centres were established to enhance the peace activities to achieve sustainable peace in the area. The presence of these activities with the support of the peace partners makes it hospitable for the local communities to adopt other means of achieving peace rather than engaging in child and women abduction, revenge killing, and inter-communal fights.
