We should have SOME pick-your-own peaches available for tomorrow's Market Garden day (that's 2-4 PM at 18101 The Glebe Lane, Charles City). If you want to pick, you should plan on taking them home to sit on the windowsill for 3-4 days.

Well, folks, it is ridiculously hot AND SMOKY on the farm, but since we've been having some decent rain, our pastures are in wonderful shape. Our cows and sheep don't mind the heat and haze as long as there's such delicious fresh grazing for them to enjoy!

Sneak peek at our newest yarns, the Middlemarch Collection! Inspired by George Eliot's classic novel, these vibrant skeins are divided between sock yarns and chunky three-plys. They'll be in our farm shop by midweek, and on our Etsy store shortly after!

Peach update! Still on the hard side, but depending on sunshine over the next few days, we're guessing that Friday might be the first day for pick-your-own peaches. Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted!

She's still in Maryland on full pasture turnout, very happily bullying her pasture mate and enjoying cookies. And we're not quite sure what our next steps are. But we thought you'd like to know.

Firefly update!

We know we have lots of Firefly fans out there. (She's our ridiculously friendly and VERY food focused red and white Hanoverian-Draft cross mare. If you've ever camped on or toured the farm, Firefly has tried to raid your pockets for treats.)

So she's got female characteristics, but...she's genetically a guy. We're still trying to figure out exactly what this means for Firefly, and whether it might account for the fact that she is (ahem) QUITE DIFFICULT to train in the dressage ring.

Our market garden is FLOURISHING! We’re thinking about holding our first ever Garden Market Day on Saturday, July 25th. Would you prefer a CSA-type pre-selected bag of fresh veg, or would you rather pick your own?

Our first peaches are in! After a very late frost (it was actually COLD a couple of months ago!) and a ridiculous drought, we're so relieved to see ripe fruit. Our other trees should be ready for pick-your-own soon. We'll let you know when they're ready!

How are the livestock coping with this heat? Well...they're definitely stressed. We try to make sure that they can all get into natural shade, where the ground is cooler than in a barn, and have plenty of drinking water. We're looking forward to a break in the weather next week.

This morning's young farm guest thoroughly enjoyed yelling BAAAAA at the sheep, especially when they yelled MUUUUUUH! back at him!
