My long term therapist is developing dementia or Alzheimer's, and I'm so sad.
Over the past year I noticed that she wasn't as sharp as she used to be, which I chalked up to old age because she's over 70.
But these past few months, things have taken a marked downturn.
Two sessions ago she told me that she might have short-term memory issues, and that I can see her for as long as I find her useful.
Anyway the last session we had, I was telling her about a friend I'm having issues with and she told me: she's being crazy, you should stop being her friend.
This therapist would have NEVER said anything like that in the past! Also, she asked me a question, which I answered, and then 10 minutes later, asked the same question.
I told her that she asked that question already, and gave her my answer again. And then 10 minutes later she asked the same question, which caused my heart to drop.
Experiencing my therapist's memory decline in real time was the most messed up thing I ever experienced in therapy.
And it is not her fault. I know I'm going to have to leave her soon and find another therapist soon, which is so sad π.
My date has not worked in his entire life.
He told me everything over dinner.
His hands were trembling, and he barely looked me in the eye.
"I've never been to a job interview," he admitted quietly. "I've never signed a lease by myself. I've never voted."
Then he gave a small, embarrassed laugh.
"My mum still does my laundry... and every morning she texts me to make sure I've eaten breakfast."
I just sat there, my fork frozen halfway to my mouth.
The bank called me and said:
"Congratulations. Your loan has been approved."
I had never applied for a loan.
I thought it was a scam.
Until they told me the amount.
Β£250,000.
The loan was taken in my name.
And someone had already spent the money.
I went straight to the bank.
They showed me the documents.
My name.
My address.
My signature.
Everything looked real.
Except one thing.
I had never signed those papers.
I demanded answers.
The manager quietly said:
"That's why we called you."
For those who first had sex at 25 or later:
Did your partner know beforehand, and how did they react? Did the shame or feeling of inadequacy disappear afterward, or did it take longer? Did the experience change your confidence or dating life? Has anyone judged you specifically because of the age at which it happened?
Iβd appreciate honest experiences, positive, awkward, disappointing, reassuring, or anything in between.
Iβm approaching mid twenties and still a virgin. Iβm not only nervous about the sex itself. Iβm also worried about telling a future partner, being judged for my lack of experience, and generally feeling like Iβm far behind everyone else......
@josiahjdp The second the lake house came up, Vanessaβs whole posture shifted from smug to panicked. That single moment showed how little the seating chart ever had to do with space and how much it had to do with control.
