My ex used to say he hated girls who asked for money because "love isn't a business."
I believed him.
For almost two years, I never asked him for anything. If we went out, I'd quietly pay my own transport. If I visited him, I'd buy food on my way because I didn't want to look "materialistic." I even defended him whenever my friends complained.
Then we broke up.
Three months later, I found out the girl he started dating after me had her rent paid by him, got a new iPhone from him, and he was taking Bolt for her everywhere.
When I confronted him, he actually said, "She's different."
Till today, I still don't know what that means.
The painful part wasn't even the money. It was realizing that he was capable of doing all those things. He just didn't think I was worth the effort.
Ladies, if a man tells you, "I'm just not the type that spends on women," please don't argue with him. Just leave him alone.
Because somehow, they always become that type for the woman they really want.
