@JojoAlainCook@Homeschool_LLC What makes you think homeschoolers don’t socialize? And why do you think school classrooms teach proper socialization skills?
@David387448@emmeornot@chasingstorms01@ben_williams_wx You seem to be the only one trying to cope, calling weather forecasts “fear porn” (such an overused and outdated phrase no one serious uses). It seems like you were really disappointed..so much so, you decided to comment it on everything AFTER the fact. Lol
@JayLesykWX Also, please keep in mind that you have ppl watching you that have had their world turned upside down by tornadoes, some ef4. You need to adjust your attitude if you plan on making this your “career”.
@JayLesykWX Are you new? It’s always a risk that it will be a bust, thats part of the “game”. People that have been doing this for decades understand that it’s almost always a 50/50. You chose the wrong spot and that’s something you will have to get better at as you gain experience.
@David387448@emmeornot@chasingstorms01@ben_williams_wx If alerting about possible very severe weather scares you, that’s a you issue. As someone who lives only about 25mins away from the “historic “ 12/2021 tornado, I appreciate it. I had rather be hyped up and aware and it be a bust, than not be aware and it happen.
@shesImaginary@0riettaRose It’s very important to break the public school mindset. Many parents give up after a short time bc they are trying to recreate a public school setting in their home and it doesn’t work. Learning is everywhere! Even baking a cake is a lesson- math, reading comprehension, home ec.
@shesImaginary@0riettaRose Start by going to https://t.co/9HLYZ8ArxG and learning your state laws and requirements. Then start “deschooling” and do that for a bit while you research more about methods and learning preferences. It’s a really important step when coming from public school!
@specsaregood@0riettaRose Same! I homeschooled my oldest at first, but life happened and I ended up having to enroll her for 1st grade. She went to public school til 7th, Covid happened and I got a look into the classroom and “teachers”. Immediately pulled and stopped the distance learning crap.
@EmoPimp666@mexigreekmom74@unlimited_ls seeing and caring for her horse that day. Maybe after making sure it had it had been fed and saying goodbye, but not before.
@EmoPimp666@mexigreekmom74@unlimited_ls I disagree. A bond between a human and their horse is a really special one, especially for teen girls. It’s much different than a dog or cat. If she was caring for her horse and walking to stables to spend time with it, it is extremely odd that she would just take off before
@Pmegmac@nickitruesdell Studies show education level of parent has little to no effect on outcome of homeschooled child. If you can read, you can homeschool. There are unlimited resources available nowadays. A parent can follow along a curriculum, the same way a public school teacher does.
@Kagami1313@nickitruesdell My friend worked in a vet clinic making barely above minimum wage and homeschooled her child, single Mom. Another homeschooled teen babysat cheap and Mom did the “formal” schoolwork around her schedule- nights and weekends.
@JeanettePanthen@0riettaRose The average homeschooler is involved in at least 5 extra curriculars. They are spending time around children and people of all ages, from all different walks of life in the real world on a daily basis. Studies show they also adjust easier to new situations than public schoolers.
