@nicknorwitz I have a very high Lp(a),neither of my parents had any strokes/heart attacks, they are both in their 80s,still alive,walking 4-5 miles per day.I conclude that the whole thing around Lp(a) is total BS.The more I read these posts, the more I conclude y'all are struggling/clueless.

@khurramn1 @EricTopol Not a doctor but am one of the patients in exactly this category, 3% risk and CAC=0 at 52yo. So, made the decision to forego statins after 4 different cardiologists proscribed them i various doses. No CAD/CVD family history. Conversely: how many people <3% have CAC>0?

@DoctorTro 52yo,LDL=170 (been high all my life),trig/HDL normal,ApoB high,lp(a) high,CACS=0. I am getting ready to go for cleerly since I am being told now that CACS is meaningless. Not on statins. My parents are in their 80s so at least one of them has high lp(a), neither has heart issues.

@drterrysimpson Also, chemically (factory) produced seed oil like sunflower oil is VERY different than first cold pressed sunflower oil. Find a local farmer making this oil and you can save yourself a ton of money and help the environment by switching from olive oil.

@drterrysimpson Confused about lp(a).If high,one of your parents have it just as high? But if you parents are in their 80s and still alive and neither had a cardiac event, ever,is there something else besides lp(a) that counteracts the risk?

@MichaelAlbertMD I guess my question is: I have high lp(a), both my parents are alive - one is 84, the other one is 80, no MI, no heart failure, still walking 4 miles per day, every day - according to what you are saying, one of them should not be alive. According to you, am I adopted? ;)

@CRYPT0N1TE @DoctorTro I am 52 with LDL 180 and CAC=0. Now I am being told I need a CT angiogram like Cleerly to actually make sure I am ok. When I got the CAC I was told it carries a 10-yr "warranty" against cardio events. Now the story has changed.

@RepThomasMassie Most eastern european countries out of communism have home ownership rates at 90% and over. We are at 60-ish%? Their houses are built better as well, brick/stone/concrete. Ours are sticks, duct tape, nails and a prayer.

@land_browns @EricSpracklen haha if you believe the official numbers and how they are constructed. People who have had white collar jobs (with 3% rates) are not going to go to multi-gig employment delivering door dash to survive. If they do, they will not be happy and that's not a real economy.
