Graduation 🎓. Few years ago I was at an adult college getting my English GSCE and today I graduated with a distinction. Had the best day with my family out in full force, great ceremony followed by a lovely meal #GraduationDay#nursingassociate
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
And now onto our final award of the day, which is the lifetime achievement award.
This award recognises achievement not just in areas such as research, teaching, and clinical improvement in services. It recognises work beyond the field of psychiatry and this year's winner embodies all that and more.
We are delighted to announce that this year’s winner is Dr Peter Hughes. We want to congratulate Dr Hughes for his tireless work over 20+ years and will continue to applaud all the amazing work he does. #RCPsychAwards
Afternoon there's a surprise, the UK government has ignored mental health with the mental health bill not included in the #KingsSpeech, it’s now highly unlikely the Mental Health Act will be reformed until further notice I am not a politician but constantly over the years I have been told by people within politics "yes we need to do something yes there needs to be changes" I wish each one of the decision makers could spend a weekend with somebody who has mental Health issues
they need be there experience the heartbreak for the carer's go and also spend a night & day in a secure unit end of rant!
Morning 20 years ago today I was sectioned for the 1st time it was a horrible experience too detailed to put on a social media post. The publicity it received went Worldwide I was front page news for the wrong reason TV crews at my door, helicopter overhead. I'm told that from that day Mental health issues suddenly were not swept under the carpet, & hushed up. The only positive from that day for me is the awareness of Mental Health all over the UK. My main problem there is still lots of talk but far more actions need to be taken & our Government need to put their hand in their pockets & actually address Mental Health issues properly not just talk about it.
