350+ members for protecting the pedestrian designation of Rennie’s/Virginia river trails. Also advocating for real bike lanes, separated from vehicular traffic
Lawrence mocked “grim faced” Rubio as he watched trump’s stupidity sink his presidential hopes: “trump&Rubio have spent years lying about Obama’s deal w/Iran. Now they’ve proved two things—how strong the Obama deal was&what relentlessly incompetent losers Rubio&trump really are.”
@GeoffBudden The consultation process is a sham. They well know the opposition to those parts of the plan and are proceeding anyway. Prudence would dictate seeing how people respond to the Kelly's Brook segment before going further.
@dakameal Some multi-use is better than other multi-use and practicalities suggest that it sometimes is necessary but there also commentary and literature out there that points out it’s inherent limitations.
@CityofStJohns First question(s) - will e-bikes/gas-powered bikes be allowed to use these multi-use paths? Will there be speed limits (as elsewhere)? If so, who will enforce any such by-laws?
The City’s Engage St. John’s site for consultation re the multi-use plan process with dates/times for info/input opportunities @CityofStJohns

@nullobject5@GeoffBudden What about cycling geriatric dudes, ones who also see the need for safe, exclusively pedestrian trails? Perhaps anonymous commentary a tad more dismissible?
@doyle_j@bmadorevocm The meetings are taking place two weeks from now, which is inadequate time for community groups (including existing trail users) to organize & inform themselves to critique some obviously problematic aspects of this major project. This is inconsistent with sincere consultation
The City, which has always been resistant to listening to non-cyclists, is trying to sneak through some quite destructive aspects of the Bike Plan (like bulldozing & paving the upper Virginia River trail) with a limited and rushed consultation process. https://t.co/RNr3zxuOyP
Tree in Virginia River @ Adam’s Rest. There it was - GONE. Yah!!! Senior Citizen cut it in pieces & removed from river. It was an eyesore & collecting lots of debris. @CityofStJohns @Grand_Concourse@PedestrianTrail
A little shoutout to the men & women of our @CanadianForces & our #CanadianRangers - they’ve travelled from across NL & outside the province to be here during these difficult times. Thank you for your service - we are grateful to have you on our coast #fiona#swcoast 💪
