This has been going for months, and now that there's a proper end-point, i can finally set a GoFundMe for the purpose of covering the expenses of my mother's stomach cancer debts. Any amount of help DOES matter, both financial and spreading the word.

@ray_ray200108 What's funny is that Xbox is probably THE console for Sonic fans.
In Unleashed alone, you can play the OG release, with/without enhancements.
OR, if you dive into Dev Mode, which is official homebrew, you can play fan-projects, including Unleashed Decompiled.
@InsaneMegaCD Which is funny when people also try to argue that Arcades died because of consoles. Like...that would have required people to WANT that Arcade experience at home.
Also, i'm pretty sure it failed due to how poorly made it was to both sell and develop, on top of price above others
Sony when turning discs into the standard: These can last you for almost 30-100 years
Sony when pushing the agenda that they no longer want to do physical: Nah, our tech was actually garbage the whole time, NOW we know what we're doing, allegedly.
A reality check for the disc debate: a study suggests read-only Blu-rays like PS5/PS4 game discs may only stay reliably playable for 10 to 20 years, and experts say they degrade from day one. How do you store your collection? https://t.co/useijY3LDz
CAUGHT! This is photographic evidence that @yangyangmobile is spoiling me with tasty treats in honor of High Time's release! I voice Elena, the fun-loving (if complicated) mom. Get it if you love the idea of magic donuts that heal your soul & help your relationships! 🍩
@APUKAMI1 At that point is a matter of keeping up with demand. As you said, the original work is available yet people choose to not engage with it due to many reasons that, ideally speaking, remakes try to adjust. From QoL features, to simply visual changes.
looks like those new backwards compatible PC releases are xbox 360 GOD files, you can use GOD extractors to convert those to xbox 360 isos, which extract into standard Xbox games.
there might be a pathway here to use this official emulator release to boot other Xbox games
@NextGenPlayer And who chose those budgets?
Nobody held a gun to any company's head to push for any of those costs, when "cheap indie games" can indeed manage to avoid that.
The only reason they cost that much is their own fault, and lickers like you try to victimize their own mistakes.
@Chilly_MIV Wii, Wii U, Switch and Switch 2 had their respective services, and some games straight up got re-releases and/or remasters/remakes. And being a bit frank, the quote is on "the opportunity to play games" and quickly moved the goal post to the (VERY VALID) criticism of ownership
@Chilly_MIV Technically not them because on 4 separate generations, they've made possible to have access to said titles. Sure, not the whole library, but Nintendo is probably the one that has made more nuanced efforts on the matter.
Emphasis on nuanced, criticisms are still a thing.
I'm going to be a tad harsh, but i genuinely believe plenty of fan-projects get the hype they do because of the nature of being exactly that. Fan projects.
If any of these beloved works had any glance of official release, and thus even a penny of price, they'd be ripped apart.
The glory of open-ended level design. Look at this. Not just my chosen route, but everything around it. I could have weaved through so many places. It feels like the Sonic CD intro, just playing around with the environment. And a perfect rebuttal to "flying over the whole level".
@TigheSammy I just find that one funny because that version is probably the hardest to obtain. Ocarina and Starfox are available on NSO, and hell, Starfox 2026 has the whole "You can play with the N64 controller". Meanwhile the 3DS system/version are objectively harder to get officially.
@cythieus@Kneeckoh_Gaming That was for this year's increase, i'm referring to last year where they specifically stated it was based on "market conditions", being the tariffs that the U.S. govt. was trying to implement during that exact time.
