Iranians Gather Outside German Public Broadcaster NDR in Hamburg, Protesting Media Silence on Executions in Iran

In the early hours of Tuesday, September 22, Iranians gathered outside the headquarters of German public broadcaster NDR in Hamburg, calling for media coverage and immediate international action to halt the execution of Ali Zarei.

Ali Zarei lost the sight in one eye after being shot by Islamic Republic forces during the nationwide 2022 uprising. After being arrested and later released, he left Iran and moved to Germany. He returned to Iran in recent months, where he was arrested again and sentenced to death.

Following his transfer to solitary confinement for death-row prisoners at Ghezel Hesar Prison, concerns over the imminent risk of his execution have intensified.

شاهزاده رضا پهلوی در نشست کنکوردیا در نیویورک، در گفت‌وگو با متیو سوئیفت، ‌هم‌بنیان‌گذار و مدیرعامل سازمان بین‌المللی کنکوردیا، نام علی زارعی را در برابر مخاطبان بین‌المللی مطرح کرد؛ جوان ۲۷ ساله‌ای که در خیزش «زن، زندگی، آزادی» از ناحیه چشم هدف گلوله قرار گرفت، اما برای ادامه مبارزه به ایران بازگشت و اکنون در سلول انفرادی با خطر اعدام روبه‌روست.
