A sensation in the music world:
On January 28, 76-year-old Bruce Springsteen released a protest song titled “Streets of Minneapolis” in response to events in Minneapolis. The single is now topping the iTunes charts in the United States and in 21 other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Denmark.
Springsteen dedicated the song to Americans who are standing up to the U.S. president and to federal ICE agents, portrayed in the song as “the private army of King Trump.”
The song ends with a promise to remember the names of the dead and a call to stand up for immigrant neighbors, for freedom, and for humanity.
Notably, Trump has repeatedly attacked Bruce Springsteen, calling him “overrated,” “talentless,” and “a dried-up old man who should keep quiet.”
For context:
Springsteen is one of the most successful and respected artists in the history of rock music. He has sold over 140 million records worldwide.
