A new update (v4) to the polymerase structure alignments is available on Zenodo - this July 2022 release has 917 structures from 628 PDB entries. https://t.co/AcBmKGc8Fg https://t.co/R4Due4ahuT…
The polymerase of #coronavirus#SARSCoV2 can adopt an alternative structure: an antiparallel dimer with only one nsp8 that may bind only one nsp13. We speculate the dimer facilitates template switching and synthesis of subgenomic viral #RNA.

A long overdue update to my structure alignments - now up to 802 structures from 534 PDB entries. Includes 21 CoV nsp12 solved in the last year. Polymerase Structure Alignments - v3 Update (March 2021) https://t.co/d1eAVPFkjl
Our paper describing the #coronavirus RNA polymerase structure is online. The nsp8 extensions contact RNA far away from the active site, apparently enabling processive replication of the very long #SARSCoV2 genome.

#ASV2020 Program and abstract submission are now live at https://t.co/1VhPhakHXU. Coming/opening soon: registration, residence hall registration, travel award and ASVCares applications, and *NEW* for 2020, onsite childcare. #LoveVirology
@canardbruno Thanks for the shoutout, Bruno. This is an evolving project and I’m more than happy to take suggestions for new/improved alignments or analyses. It’s a resource for polymerase geeks, and perhaps some instructors.
