This morning, I had the privilege to deliver an address commemorating Memorial Day at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Summerville. Today and everyday, may we continue to honor the brave men and women who have given their lives in the service to our nation.

Today we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation and secure our freedoms.

We live in the greatest nation the world has ever known — a country where we can freely disagree, speak our minds openly, and pursue our dreams. We are not the greatest because we are perfect, but because so many were willing to give everything so that we could inherit the blessing of liberty — including the liberty to debate, to argue, to disagree.

Let us honor their memory with deep gratitude and humility. May we cherish the freedoms they defended, love our fellow Americans even when we disagree, and remain steadfast in our devotion to this great Nation they so courageously served.

God bless our fallen. God bless the families they left behind. And God bless the United States of America.
