@ZaidJilani Unfortunately, high achievers tend to ally with the creditor class, not the debtor class. They also tend to be globalists with big, fatuous ideas.
@Katie_Lam_MP Is the system broken or is it functioning well according to the wishes of some unnamed malefactors? Given the magnitude of what's happening, it must be benefiting someone in power.
@JamesSurowiecki Watered-down McLuhan: The medium is only partly the message, in which case the medium matters. I think people still assign TV content greater credibility than anything they might see or hear on a podcast. So a million TV views may be more valuable than 10 million podcast hits.
@BernieSanders On my X feed I'm seeing this worthy item from Bernie about student loans and directly above it an item from Nancy Mace about immigrant violence against women. What I would like to see is the two acknowledging each other's concerns. But I doubt that's ever gonna happen.
@SenWarren If AI was built on our content and with our money, we deserve much more than a share of the wealth created. We deserve control, complete control, of how and whether AI is used!
@RBReich I'm worried that a focus on big money may miss a more essential problem: financialization. For instance, what if there's another speculative breakdown like the 2008 crisis? As matters stand, perpetrators will be bailed out and the victims (most of us) will be further victimized.
@therealmissjo@CanonFrancais Looks like fun. I'm seeing a scattering of red berets. The last time I saw so many was at a French Communist Party carnival in the 1980s, just before the party pretty much vanished. I hope the berets indicate some support from the left for Le Canon Francais.
@travelingflying I forget who said this, but Macron is characterized as probably the first French president ever rising to office on a campaign openly despising his own country.
@travelingflying As in the US, if those opposing this onslaught of mass immigration ever rise to power, the problem will be so enormous that the solution is bound to be ugly. Then those addressing the problem will be blamed and not those who created it.
@Martina I think it's ideological beyond comprehension. Conservatives would rather trash the planet than do anything about climate change. They're rotten.
@RCPolitics Drawing this equivalency, Brooks must think Trump is suffering PTSD from the bone spurs that kept him out of Vietnam and drove him into tens of thousands of contacts with Jeffrey Epstein.
@Noirchick1 Another observation: Looking this sheer lovely in a scene is a thing of the past. Gardner is a fine example, and there are many others from that era. But I cannot think of one actress today who is ever filmed like this.
@GeraldoRivera Historically, both Democrats and Republicans have raised grave questions about black-box electronics in voting systems. The US in the past and other countries today rely solely on human beings to count votes. Being human, they aren't perfect. But they can be fast AND accountable.
