It looks as though there's little left for Pelican to report on, so we'll bring coverage of the conference to a close. A huge thank you to all our Pelifans who supported us and the other student media this week. #nusedcon24
There's a lot for unions to consider going forward, not least the viability of the NUS as a representative body. I hope delegates reflect carefully on what learned here, and especially on if their behaviour has been appropriate for a leader. #nusedcon24
It does seem many delegates aren't in workshops and are instead having informal conversations on the sideline. I imagine many delegates will have a few spare hours before heading to the airport, since the conference was meant to run until 16:30. #nusedcon24
@pat_tayl0r I believe the speaker's intent was to say that the amendment text needed to be watertight and have buy in from across the entire political spectrum, and that not achieving this was a failure of the government.
The discussion is just about an upcoming defence conference being held at UWA. A SAlt delegate seems to be suggesting the UWA Guild should be acting without the approval of its Council (the elected student board). #nusedcon24
Unnamed UWA sources have confirmed to Pelican that our pizza is superior in all ways to the Curtin offering, but stressed we are very grateful for their hospitality. #nusedcon24
