Remembering the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize, the first individual to be awarded two Nobel Prizes and still today the only individual with two Nobel Prizes in two different scientific categories: Marie Skłodowska Curie.

Curie was born #OnThisDay in 1867.

This is a rather concerning finding yet we continue to be complacent in many ways. Not only was the virus highly lethal in a ferret model, it was also airborne. Good news is some treatments were efficacious in reducing symptoms and death in animals.

Bad science @BioMedCentral Biotechnology. Authors claim development of new adenovirus-complementing cell line for recombinant adenovirus production. Using L132 cells, which are essentially mislabeled HeLa cells. Authors claim these are primary lung cells. https://t.co/W5ASrwWGdB

20% of retail milk has traces of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the US, suggesting a wider outbreak amongst cattle than previously thought. Note that the milk is fine, it is highly unlikely than any infectious virus survives pasteurization.
